I would love to move out and stop mooching off my mom, but y'know, it just ain't as easy as some people seem to think it is. A minimum wage job forty hours a week will not pay for rent AND food, utilities and everything else, sorry. And if you're still paying off student loans, or are one of those crazy people that'd like to have health and car insurance, well, forget it.
I hate almost as much the cry of "Just find a roommate!" as though that's a simple, completely safe alternative to finding a place on one's own. I've heard way too many horror stories about roommates turning out to be drug addicts, petty criminals or just plain assholes who ruin people's lives - one of my friends had a roomie who was a pothead and constantly in trouble with the cops and made her life miserable while she was still sharing space with him.
gives you a "fuckin hell yeah" WHen i left home at 21 it want realy a choice. it wsa much more of a jumped before being shoved. I still had to work 60+ hours to cover stuff hte first many years.
OMG THEYRE ALL JUST MOOCHERS AND LAZY AND LIVING IN THEIR PARENTS BASEMENTS LOLOLOL seems to be an all too common attitude, yes. Drives me nuts for all the same reasons. If you get along with family, then a roommate-sharing-wtfever type deal with them (parents included) seems a lot more sensible than strangers.
I miss my old house's basement. It was awesome D:.
You know... what if I actually like living home and mum prefers that I stay here? I work full time and help the parents out with the finances wherever I can. Does this not make it socially acceptable for me to stay at a comfortable and happy home then?
