Oh, hey! Nice to see you! I'm still pottering around on here, but yeah, I agree that it's not like it was. Lost was truly a magical time. Funnily enough, I was just re-reading some of my old Lost stories (and now have trouble believing I wrote!), which was very fun after all this time.
Finding something so addictive is very hard, not to mention something that we were able to SHARE and discuss in the way we did with Lost. I was with a group following H50 which was fun for some time, despite the fact that the show went downhill in the mid-seasons and lost what made it special, but since then... nothing really. I did hitch onto The Expanse (sci-fi rather than quite so fantasy as Lost), which was a great show (and the books it was based on), but didn't get into fandom on it.
I'll have to look up Yellowjackets! Thanks! And I see you mentioned a possible new show for Josh Holloway, which I hope comes to fruition! I started watching one of his others, but my husband lost interest and then it was hard to find time alone to watch, so I never finished (forget the name, the sci-fi one where the aliens were controlling their movements in their own city), but I always think I'll get back to it one day... we'll see! I do miss seeing him on my TV. ;-)
And I had the exact same reaction revisiting some of my own fic, like, "*I* wrote this?" Some I remembered very well, others not at all. So I'm extra mad at myself for the ones I didn't finish because they just... end. Dammit!
Yellowjackets is excellent and I love the cast: Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis and lots of great '90s music. No slash and almost no male characters, but there is a canon lesbian couple. It's on Showtime and they're filming Season 2 right now. Some Lost parallels, people stranded by plane crash, endless mysteries, hints of supernatural stuff, but since it's on cable, they can go a lot darker. It's more like Lord of the Flies, but with teenage girls.
Oh, and the alien series with Josh was Colony and I didn't stick with it. Not a big fan of alien themes, except maybe X-Files and even then those weren't my favorite episodes. The new show premise sounds perfect. Let's hope it happens!
Yeah, I know what you mean there! I haven't written much at all in years now, and so many unfinished things, or stuff I planned to do a follow-up on. I'm at the point of forgetting what even happened in shows that I started fic on, so can't even think where I wanted to go with them. Thankfully I hadn't posted too many like that, but I feel bad about the ones I did.
OK, not sure if Yellowjackets is really my thing now you've described it some (I am so shallow - no equivalent to Josh to admire regularly? LOL). I tell you what I just found which is super-intriguing: 1899. It seems to be a German/British co-production, as some of it is dubbed and some is originally in English, so if you can get past the lips mismatch with the dubbing, it's pretty good so far. It's set on a steamship in... you guessed it... 1899, and there are so many weird mysteries going on, plus I'm not convinced it's 'reality' as a couple of anachronisms have shown their face. I'm fascinated though! And canon gay characters too!
Of course - Colony! Thanks! I knew it started with C, but yeah, left my head. I do like alien stuff, but get a bit sick of the ones where they just seem to be pure evil (although I'm sure that's intended as some kind of comment on evil humans most of the time). I may yet go back to it, and one of the others I started watching, Falling (or Fallen?) Skies, with Noah Wyle. I enjoyed that one while I was watching, but it slipped out of my notice somewhere and I keep meaning to get back to it! On the Josh front, I definitely would watch that new one, so yeah, let's hope!
So great to see you! I am well, and hpe you are too! ;-)
I might check out 1899, thanks! Always love a good mystery. Bad dubbing is very distracting, though.
And there is at least one kinda hot guy on Yellowjackets (photo below) but no chance of slash there. I just love all the actresses though and it's very addictive.
