That was a bad joke on my part regarding the character introduced in this chapter, which I should probably have resisted. ;) (The joke, not the character.) The shame is all mine.
So Rikku finally appears! I was wondering if she'd show up... :) and Squab is in love with Lucil? Please tell me you're going to spend a little more time with that... that'd be really cute. And now you've got me worried that you're going to kill Nooj and Paine and have some kind of drmatic, tragic ending... (*is worried*) don't do it! ;)
Poor old Squab had done such good work for the army, it seemed unfair not to give him a reward. Lucil and he are well matched - both being devoted to Nooj so they will have much to talk about. I am glad you like the pairing.
In some ways, it is the job of a writer to keep readers worried. It is one way to try to hold their interest and keep them reading.
We are so glad you are still with us. Thank your for the feedback. ;)
Is it chapter 28 or 29, ladies? Fix your title. ;)
If only he could trust the young man to abandon his search for death permanently. Nooj would make a fine leader in the new Spira. And a worthy partner for Paine. This is a weird sequence of partial sentences, to me. I like the juxtaposition of ideas, but I think that some connection here could be good for the flow of the section.
Gippal~~! Yay!! I missed him! And... ugh, Rikku? She reminds me of FFX!Rikku here rather than FFX-2!Rikku, which doesn't quite bother me as much. And yes, that's a BROTHERLY arm, not a LOVER-LY arm, kthx. >.>;
Since this is the FFX time frame, FFX-Rikku is what we were going for. We discussed including her vs. not, but in the end it just didn't seem realistic that she wouldn't be with the Al Bhed contingent.
As for "tomorrow" and Gippal's arm around her shoulder... you will just have to wait and see. ;)
I'm happy to see a little more tension in Nooj and Paine's relationship over something mundane - it makes it seem so much more real now and not just something in the passion of war.
As the nature of their relationship changes, so must the tension between them. They are still in the first glory of love but the real world will increasingly intrude. They have to learn to live together now that Nooj has decided to live. Heh!
Thank you so much for the comment. It is encouraging to know we still have readers. And we appreciate every single one of them!!!

Does "tomorrow" mean "next chapter"?
