Descriptions I'm hearing about some new place sounds a lot like Halloweentown. Or at least dark, creepy and twisted architecture and spooky Heartless sure fit the bill. The other place I'm not familiar with, though. Definitely new since I was last here ( Read more... )

You know how there's a way from Paixao to this Island? There's a way from that Island to a place called Halloweentown. Pretty much what it sounds like.

...Assuming you know what Halloween is?

Figures. It's a holiday that celebrates just about anything scary. Kids'll dress up like anything they want. Monsters. Fairies. Superheroes. You name it. And they'll go door to door collecting candy handed out in their neighborhood. Used to do that a lot when I was little. I got a kick out of scaring people.

Halloweentown is a literal interpretation of the holiday. Real skeletons walk around and monsters make their living making people scream. The town's business to ensure the holiday goes without a hitch.

Candy? What's candy?

... Why would anyone want to go there?

It's food. Very sweet food, and not particularly healthy.

Hey, you ever get a thrill out of the occasional shock? Or being brave in the face of fear?

Hu... Is it any good? I mean, for kids to be out collecting it, it has to be, right?

I don't go looking for trouble for kicks if that's what you're asking.

Yeah, it tastes good. Some people have a real sweet-tooth. I don't really, though it's nice now and then.

Difference between looking for trouble and looking for a thrill.

How old can you be until you can't eat it anymore? You said kids get it, right?

Neither sound very clever to me.

There's no age limit. Kids get more excited over it, but they only get as much as the adults let them.

You mean to tell me you've never gotten a rush out of anything?

... So adults could have as much candy as they wanted?

Of course I have but not like you're talkin' about.

As much as they can afford if they really wanted, but trust me, you don't wanna make yourself sick. I did that on Halloween a couple times when I was a kid. NOT fun.

Oh really. So what do you do to get a rush?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold it right there. I thought this stuff tasted good. If it makes you sick, why would anyone want it?

Well, I used to jump out of the trees and off high rocks at the bottom of the waterfall but that was years ago.

If you eat too much of it, you'll be sick.

But not anymore? C'mon, don't you ever enjoy the feel of adrenaline?

How much is too much then?

Not as much as I enjoy feeling alive. Geez, you're starting to sound like the young and the restless here.

I don't know. I guess it depends on the person. But anyone can get sick from eating too much food anyway.

Um, in case you haven't noticed, I am young, and who wouldn't be restless with the Organization around?
