HEADCANONY FUN
The last time I did the headcanon meme we didn't even have a Jasdero yet (and now a lot of it is outdated) SO. I love headcanon so you all get to sit through some more awesome Devit headcanon. :D
AGAIN JASDERO IF YOU DISAGREE WITH ANY OF THIS JUST PUNT ME \o/
♫ Devit loves the water, especially hot water. He's not so much for swimming, though he does like it well enough, but mostly he loves the onsen, showers, baths, hot tubs, anything of that nature. He likes the water almost painfully hot. He's never heard of a sauna, but if he had the opportunity to visit one, he'd love that too.
♫ Weather-wise, though, he's not fond of extremely hot weather or humidity. Gross. :|
♫ BUT he hates the cold even more--Devit absolutely hates winter. Especially snow. He's not extraordinarily sensitive to cold or anything, he just hates the sensation and the way it makes everything (picking what to wear, moving around outside, and so on) a pain in the ass. He's also not a fan of rain. Back home he probably does whatever he can to end up in whatever part of the world is most comfortable weather-wise at the time.
♫ Devit and Jasdero travel a lot back in their world, hunting Exorcists and Innocence and so on. They've been all over the world by now. Devit best remembers different regions by whatever food he ate while he was there.
♫ Unlike Jasdero, Devit does like sweets, but he much prefers pastries to candy. He still prefers savory foods, especially anything with rice and/or eggs, and chicken. He's not a huge fan of very spicy foods.
♫ Devit doesn't really remember his human life at least not until we get more canon on it. Not even Devit is sure whether or not, as a human, he existed separate from Jasdero. To him at this point the distinction is meaningless anyway. As the Bonds of Noah there is something in his core that is so fundamentally Other that, unlike a Noah like Ticky, he can no longer truly understand what it is/was like to be an ordinary human, and his memories of it are very vague.
♫ He sometimes forgets very basic facts about ordinary humans. If someone he knows is injured and it takes awhile to heal, he will be surprised every single time he sees them that they're "still hurt," no matter how severe the injury was.
♫ However, he also exaggerates how little he understands/remembers. Some of his forgetting is faked, and some of it is deliberate.
♫ Pursuant to a certain thread in dgmdressroom--Devit has a small birthmark on the inside of his right elbow. Other than his stigmata, he does not have any other permanent marks on his body unless he ends up with an INNOCENCE scar on his left arm when he finally shows up again in canon.
♫ He is capable of putting on weight and has done so while at camp. Which is probably good since his canon weight is 103 lbs lol. Nothing that drastic, maybe 10-15 pounds or so, but the difference is visible. Yes, Jasdevi did have to make new pants for him.
♫ When it comes to using Jasdevi's powers of materialization, Devit has specific proclivities. There are things he prefers to make himself (themselves) and things he prefers to obtain elsewhere. The criteria for this is complicated and changes a lot on a case-by-case basis, but in general:
♪ Generic necessities (like pencils, paper, tissues, whatever), things that are insignificant and mostly the same no matter what brand you get, are easier to just make as needed;
♪ Hygiene products (shampoo) and makeup he prefers to buy, although he will make it if he needs it fast;
♪ Any item that's significant/complicated/expensive/varies a lot by brand or style but isn't necessarily interesting or creative (his gun, and things like cameras, mechanical things, and so on) he prefers to buy;
♪ Anything that's unique or some sort of creative expression, like clothing, Jasdevi's bed, etc. he would rather design and make himself;
♪ Food should always be made by someone else or "the long way" whenever possible. Food Jasdevi materializes is perfectly okay but is never outstanding. It is never quite as good as the original.
♪ It's impossible for Jasdevi to make books. There's too much in a book to imagine all at once.
♪ Presents for someone else should always be made, or what's the point? A good present is a unique present!
♪ Devit doesn't like making living things unless he plans on killing them quickly or using them specifically in a fight. But they are capable of it.
♫ Devit places more emotional significance on items Jasdevi didn't make themselves, unless it's something that took a lot of designing and effort, like their bed. For example, he is emotionally attached to his gun even though they could just make a new one exactly the same if he ever lost it. It wouldn't be the same gun, and he would be unhappy.
♫ He didn't make his coat or boots either, and so he saved them with a moogle so they'll never wear out. He doesn't mind ruining pairs of pants or shirts because those he makes himself.
♫ Because of this, Devit treasures any gifts he's given, even if they're something he could have easily made himself. After all, Jasdevi could make just about anything themselves, so it really is the thought that counts. It doesn't have any added significance if it's expensive; a diamond ring is easier to make than a good cake.
♫ This is also why he tends to give Jasdero pets as gifts.
♫ Devit has a tendency to "accidentally" leave small personal items (like combs) in places he frequents or wants people to know he's been, like Hakuren's room. It's like marking territory in a way.
♫ Unlike Jasdero, Devit will steal from people. It's not a habit or a compulsion, but he will do it on occasion. Devit's favorite thing to take is clothing. He has a growing collection of clothing he's taken from other campers and never given back, including a full Barsburg military uniform from Shuri, which he will never wear but thinks is hilarious to own.
♫ Devit loves to read manga! Mostly shounen action manga and so on. Because he's easily emotionally manipulated by fiction, he usually ends up cheering on the protagonist, even when the protagonist is human/similar to the Exorcists/going up against a villain that he should identify with.
♫ He is not as fond of anime or TV in general. Usually when he watches TV he watches things like Animal Planet as opposed to anything with an ongoing storyline. Devit loves Animal Planet, especially anything involving sharks, lions, attacks on humans, OR ANIMALS FIGHTING FUCK YES.
♫ Devit talks to himself a lot. If you leave him alone for any period of time, he will start talking to himself, the TV, whatever he's reading, etc. He's not used to being alone, so even if Jasdero isn't around, he will start talking as if he is. If you leave him in a room with a mirror he will talk to the Noah, sometimes.
♫ The Noah sometimes talks back.
♫ Devit carries a pencil and paper with him at all times to sketch things. When he thinks of something he wants to materialize that he's going to need to describe to Jasdero later, he makes a note of it and draws it. He's become a pretty decent artist because of this.
♫ He's a very good singer and really enjoys singing. I assume that his little Jasdevi Song he sings when he combines with Jasdero is a method of focus/synchronization rather than actually required for use of their powers (the same way the guns act as a focus for their abilities but are not necessary). He knows he's a good singer and isn't shy about singing in the shower, although he wishes his voice were deeper. :( Devit's favorite kind of music to sing is anything with a lot of emotion in it. If a song doesn't have a lot of emotion in it he will PUT a lot of emotion in it. REALLY emotional songs occasionally result in him crying a little at karaoke.
