[This is going to come off so awkward and he knows it. That's why it takes him a while to finally actually say anything.] It would seem that the number of disappearances lately is increasing. I can only hope the population is aware and taking precautions against such occurrences.

On a mostly unrelated matter, I have a question for those who have ( Read more... )

missing my cauldron, question for the masses, people are disappearing around me, the potions master

The general feel of the land out there is that I've noticed it to be similar to a deciduous forest from Earth. By and large it seems mundane, aside from the animals speaking and all.

Of course. But no magical beings or herbs are present?

There's a clearly unnatural white wolf that might be a goddess running around.

...While that is interesting, I should clarify that I am in interested only in things that could be considered native to this place.

I know little of magical herbs, but I have seen garlic. I searched for laurels, but I couldn't find any.

Garlic but no laurels. Is there anything else that you are aware of?

I'm afraid those are the only ones I knew to look for. They are the only ones I know how to use.

I see. At any rate, that is useful to know.

The amount of disappearances is ... while a large number, unfortunately a common occurrence. Worrisome, but common. All that can be done is to keep an eye out for their returns.

... As for the herbs, I suppose it would depend on what you are looking for. I have a few lists in my possession of the various herbs and a few descriptions of them that can be found around here.

It does seem to be something of a normal occurrence, doesn't it? I don't suppose there's any sort of pattern to it?

I will admit to a fascination for what they might create if brewed together. The art of potion making was my specialty in school.

No, not really. While numerous attempts have been made to analyze the patterns, there are none to be found; the Malnosso have their own means of deciding, and it seems cleverly designed to keep us all off guard.

Brewed? Hm. There are some I use for tea, and I believe others may be gathering more for their ... pharmacy, but I'm certain there are many other uses that can be found for them. Are you a teacher?

That would appear to be in agreement with what little I have learned of them.

...I was at home for seventeen years or so. Eighteen, if you'd count a year as Headmaster. I was simply wondering if it would be possible to deal with magical potions here, but I am beginning to think their supplies are lacking in even the basics.

Getting some work in early, Professor?

...Do you have some reason why I shouldn't?

Not at all. I'm just curious what you're going to attempt to make this time.

I've not yet gone searching myself; I suspect that if specific plants were desired, seeds might become available through our faceless suppliers, though like most things of magical quality here their power would most likely be diminished.

Anything of a mundane nature with latent magical qualities - common herbs, vines, roots, anything one could find in a temperate deciduous forest - would probably be easier to find, purchase, or grow.
