The burned books had also proved a problem. She stacked them up and charmed a broom to sweep up any ash or remaining glass, while a similarly charmed mop cleans the potions sludge that, as far as Lily could tell, had begun to grow.
By the time Severus emerged from the bathroom, his flat was looking fairly decent and the tea was ready and on the table. Her eyes widened when she saw him, surprised by his appearance in the Muggle clothes. If he didn't like the clothes because they were reminiscent of his childhood, then that was why she loved them. And he looked good in them too. The fit him properly, the shirt outlining his torso favorably while the pants hugged his hips. Since they'd started school it had been extremely rare to see him in anything but a cloak that covered him from head to toe in black fabric. She caught herself staring for a moment and then turned back to the tea things, trying to hide the fact that she'd been looking and the flush that was rising to her cheeks.
"Are you feeling better?" she asked, pouring their tea.

He felt uncomfortable dressed like this - like he had lost a line of defense. Being stared at while dressed as such did nothing to help his belief that he wanted to get back into his robes as quickly as possible. He hated that such clothes didn't hide the scars on his neck or the Dark Mark on his arm - among other scars on his body.
The place looked so much better than it had. Severus stood there for a moment, a little stunning, by the transformation from utter destruction to habitability once more.
"Thank you," he said, softly, gazing around himself. Her gesture of kindness truly touched him. "Um..." He paused to clear his throat and then continued, his voice normal again. "You didn't find my wand by any chance?" He was kind of afraid of where it would come flying from if he summoned it.

"It's by your place at the table," she said after a pause that was just a little too long. "How do you take your tea? The same?"

He wandered into the kitchen and placed his robes off to the side. Snatching up his wand and tucking it into his belt Severus opened the refrigerator and poked about.
"Hungry?"

"Yes," she said, wrapping her hands around her warm teacup. "What did you have in mind?

Severus had been in so much pain he hadn't even felt like eating prior to Lily's arrival. He had been pretty sure even if he had tried to eat he would have vomited it back up in no time. However, he felt a lot better now and he hadn't eaten anything since sometime early last evening - he was starving.

She turned to watch him work, again a bit mesmerized by how good he looked in what he was wearing. She was staring again.

He finally chanced a look over his shoulder and caught her staring. His eyes narrowed. "What?" He knew he looked odd. He looked like a full-fledged Muggle. He looked like his father when he looked in the mirror at the moment. And he hated all of it. Being stared at didn't help.

After taking a few moments to collect himself Severus turned back, followed by plates of food which slid, on their own, onto the table. Likewise, he slid into the seat opposite Lily and tried to ignore how his pulse had just doubled.

On a totally unrelated note - he was glad he wasn't wearing his robes right then. The Muggle clothing he had on was much better at not holding in heat.
"So how did you convince James to let you come back here?" James. Yes, James. Remind himself that she was James's girlfriend and that she would go back to him soon.

"I left him in bed," she said grateful for the reminder. But then she was reminded of the state she had left James, naked and exhausted from the night before. The sudden rush of heat through her core at the memory of what she and James had done was really not helping her keep her mind out of the gutter. She fidgeted.

He munched away at his toast, trying not to think of what might have happened if James hadn't come back. How far would he have gotten? Was there any chance that she would have wanted him as badly as he wanted her?
Another head shake. Not. Helping. His leg was moving, trying to work off the energy that was suddenly bubbling up.
