Lily had done her best to clean as much as was possible. She was able to repair most of the vials he'd broken, but any potions inside were lost, mingled with too many others to separate.

The burned books had also proved a problem. She stacked them up and charmed a broom to sweep up any ash or remaining glass, while a similarly charmed mop cleans the potions sludge that, as far as Lily could tell, had begun to grow.

By the time Severus emerged from the bathroom, his flat was looking fairly decent and the tea was ready and on the table. Her eyes widened when she saw him, surprised by his appearance in the Muggle clothes. If he didn't like the clothes because they were reminiscent of his childhood, then that was why she loved them. And he looked good in them too. The fit him properly, the shirt outlining his torso favorably while the pants hugged his hips. Since they'd started school it had been extremely rare to see him in anything but a cloak that covered him from head to toe in black fabric. She caught herself staring for a moment and then turned back to the tea things, trying to hide the fact that she'd been looking and the flush that was rising to her cheeks.

"Are you feeling better?" she asked, pouring their tea.

"Yes. Thank you." He noticed how she looked at him and scowled. "I can't very well put my regular clothes back on until I've washed them. Besides," he paused to looked around for his wand, "not like this place has a wizard robes shop anywhere - none that I've found any ways."

He felt uncomfortable dressed like this - like he had lost a line of defense. Being stared at while dressed as such did nothing to help his belief that he wanted to get back into his robes as quickly as possible. He hated that such clothes didn't hide the scars on his neck or the Dark Mark on his arm - among other scars on his body.

The place looked so much better than it had. Severus stood there for a moment, a little stunning, by the transformation from utter destruction to habitability once more.

"Thank you," he said, softly, gazing around himself. Her gesture of kindness truly touched him. "Um..." He paused to clear his throat and then continued, his voice normal again. "You didn't find my wand by any chance?" He was kind of afraid of where it would come flying from if he summoned it.

She didn't turn back, sure her cheeks were still red, and added milk to her tea.

"It's by your place at the table," she said after a pause that was just a little too long. "How do you take your tea? The same?"

"Hmm? Yes."

He wandered into the kitchen and placed his robes off to the side. Snatching up his wand and tucking it into his belt Severus opened the refrigerator and poked about.

"Hungry?"

She added milk to his tea as well, a little bit more than she took, before she sat in the chair. She was a bit surprised to find that she was hungry. Of course she hadn't eaten anything before she'd come over, so it was understandable, but so far today food had been the furthest thing from her mind.

"Yes," she said, wrapping her hands around her warm teacup. "What did you have in mind?

"Eggs and toast work for you?" he asked pulling a few eggs out of the fridge and going to take out a pan.

Severus had been in so much pain he hadn't even felt like eating prior to Lily's arrival. He had been pretty sure even if he had tried to eat he would have vomited it back up in no time. However, he felt a lot better now and he hadn't eaten anything since sometime early last evening - he was starving.

Her stomach grumbled at the thought of eggs. "Yes," she said. "That sounds perfect."

She turned to watch him work, again a bit mesmerized by how good he looked in what he was wearing. She was staring again.

That feeling you get when you know you're being stared at? The hairs on the back of your neck? Yeah, Severus was totally feeling that and his brow furrowed, working on getting things cooking but not turning around. Yet.

He finally chanced a look over his shoulder and caught her staring. His eyes narrowed. "What?" He knew he looked odd. He looked like a full-fledged Muggle. He looked like his father when he looked in the mirror at the moment. And he hated all of it. Being stared at didn't help.

Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment at getting caught. And because she had been remembering running her fingers over his bare skin earlier. She opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out, and she went even redder, if that was at all possible.

The scowl he had initially fixed her with ebbed away from his features as he recognized her expression - the look on her face, the color to her skin. He stared at her a moment and then shook his head, returning to preparing breakfast. Suddenly, he wasn't as hungry as he had been - at least not for food.

After taking a few moments to collect himself Severus turned back, followed by plates of food which slid, on their own, onto the table. Likewise, he slid into the seat opposite Lily and tried to ignore how his pulse had just doubled.

Lily avoided eye contact, managing to mutter a thank you as the plates slid onto the table. She piled her eggs onto her toast and broke the yolks, pretending that her food was much more interesting than anything else that might be going on here.

Severus also found his food of all-consuming interest. No, of course he wasn't thinking about last night or how good it had felt to hold Lily in his arms or how warm her lips were or how good her hand hand felt through his shirt. Nope. Not thinking about any of that.

On a totally unrelated note - he was glad he wasn't wearing his robes right then. The Muggle clothing he had on was much better at not holding in heat.

"So how did you convince James to let you come back here?" James. Yes, James. Remind himself that she was James's girlfriend and that she would go back to him soon.

Her thoughts weren't drifting to last night either. The things he had said, the way he hand held her, and the passion in his kiss. Furthest thing from her mind.

"I left him in bed," she said grateful for the reminder. But then she was reminded of the state she had left James, naked and exhausted from the night before. The sudden rush of heat through her core at the memory of what she and James had done was really not helping her keep her mind out of the gutter. She fidgeted.

"I see," he replied, trying not to think of how it should have been him who had shared a bed with Lily last night. He was embarrassed to admit it but, yes, he had been trying to seduce her last night. He may have even had a chance had Potter not come back at the exact wrong moment.

He munched away at his toast, trying not to think of what might have happened if James hadn't come back. How far would he have gotten? Was there any chance that she would have wanted him as badly as he wanted her?

Another head shake. Not. Helping. His leg was moving, trying to work off the energy that was suddenly bubbling up.

She nodded. "He thinks I've gone for a walk," she said, picking at her eggs, which were delicious, although her appetite seemed to have all but disappeared in the last few minues.

"That's good. Long walk?" he asked as he too began to poke at his food. It had tasted good but now there was something else entirely churning in his stomach. He crossed his legs under the table to try and deter his body from doing what he knew it wanted to as the tension in the air became thicker. In his haste he felt his foot brush against something under the table which caused his face to turn even more red - if that was possible.

"Sorry."
