room 418: friday afternoon

Nathan still couldn't leave the island.

He'd tried and, once again, he'd ended right back at the beginning of the causeway, disoriented and angry. That had called for stomping into the preserve and punching a tree until his hand bled. His healing ability had taken care of that quickly and he'd fallen into a restless sleep once night fell.

Nathan had woken late in the afternoon today and taken a look at his hand. Besides being dirty, it looked fine. The tattoo and the scarring on his wrists were the only things he could see and they weren't ever going away. So, everything was fine (or maybe it was far from fine).

He'd made his way back to the dorms and gone about showering and changing into something clean. With that done, he'd grabbed the tablet Barry had given him, ignoring the spiking buzzing in his head from both being around and using technology and flopped down on his bed. He thought about watching television but with classes starting soon, he decided to try something else.

Nathan opened up one of the learning applications he'd found and made a face at the cartoonish graphics and the age of the children in the illustrations around the exercises. But, he was going to try and read. He didn't even realize that he was talking out loud, sounding out words and phrases and scowling when he didn't get them right.
