[Private]Dammit, why can't we make it a kriffing week without fighting about something? It wasn't like I wanted to leave her. She kriffing told me to go, but I know that's not going to convince her now

Knights are "good" where you come from? Glorified?
We just do our jobs. To clarify my pessimism below--it's because we're the first ones called to the front lines of war. Despite that we are officially designated as "peace keepers." And then treated with scorn afterwards.
Yes, they are. Although they occasionally must carry out commands on the Emperor which are not perceived by the common folk citizens as "good".
Knighthood isn't about the reception you get. It's about having the dignity to carry out your duties, whatever they may be, because that is your honour to do so. If you just follow orders for the sake of following orders, you're just a mercenary, not a Knight.
Lady, I don't see myself getting paid for what I do. Honour has its own place; but when we are ordered to do something, we do it; even if we disagree, and not because it's our choice. We have no choice.
You sound like a spoilt bureaucrat's daughter. What would you know of what it's like to put our lives on the line and receive only scorn in return? To hold the lifeless bodies of the loved ones serving with us--whom we see die before our eyes? Nothing.
You try doin' it. Then get back to me with your definition of knighthood--and service.
For you, Knight seems only to be a title, a stigma you must bear, an ill charm you carry forward into battle. It is something you call yourself without pride, only with resignation. You are nothing like the Knights I have known.
I apologize. It was thoughtless of me to assume that the usage of the word "knight" carries the same connotations across all lands.
I'm all for helping people. But it gets tiresome seeing my family and friends treated like garbage after the battle's over and they're not needed anymore. It's like we're only needed when there's a war. Otherwise they want nothing to do with us.
Once being called "Jedi" brought a lot of awe, prestige, and respect for how hard we work. Not anymore.
I don't think it's right that you should be treated so thoughtlessly. However I also think you're directing your anger about it at the wrong people who've done nothing to you and are not responsible for your fall from grace.
I'm not just talkin' about the regular folks when I say they only call us when they need us. I mean the Senate. The Government. My brother's girl is Queen of her planet--and there've been assassination attempts on her from all sides. The Government, her relatives, Jedi haters.
And she can't defend herself as well as others of us can.
