Silent Hill fandom: Fics
I have a Silent Hill 4 story I wanted to link here, and Geekturnedvamp though it might be better with a few notes.
I'm something of a big fan of the Silent Hill series of horror games. There are women in canon as main characters: The third game has a female protagonist, one of the main villains is female, and the movie adaptation loosely based on the first game changed the main character to a woman. However there are also some great female supporting characters that I like to bring out and make the main characters in my fics. In this case I decided to make an AU and do that literally.
The original game Silent Hill 4 is about a man named Henry who is trapped in his apartment. Another man, Walter, was abandoned there as a baby and has grown up to believe that Room 302 is his mother (or perhaps his spiritual goddess/mother) and has become a serial killer in order to bring "Mother" back. By crawling through a mysterious hole in the wall, Henry meets a seductive woman named Cynthia who I found fascinating, but who inevitably turns out to be one of Walter's victims. He also ends rescuing his neighbor, Eileen, who has been attacked by Walter, and gets a chance at saving both their lives. Eileen herself interested me. She isn't well-liked because she seems rather helpless and has been injured, but she can also fight and in her own way tries to protect Henry herself. And I ended up asking myself... what if Eileen were the one who was stuck in Room 302 in the first place? And what if Cynthia weren't what she is in the game, but rather grew up like Walter did and ended up in his place? This story is short but I liked the twist and might work on more.

I also wanted to give some recs of other Silent Hill stories, though I'm not the best with getting in lots of reading and making recs unfortunately.
Here are a few great stories from a friend of mine centering around Maria, a character from the second game. I liked how these stories bring out her own personality and not only how she plays off the main character, James. (These particular stories I've recced here aren't quite as profoundly disturbing as Silent Hill fics tend to be, though it's still a horror fandom.)

Lights Out (contains images of horror and violence and a little profanity)
A Problem Like Maria (probably R but for profanity, contains some slight Maria/James)
And here's a story written by rabbitprint for the Silent Hill Movie for a prompt I gave at yuri_challenge. It's surreal and a little cryptic and I loved it. (Contains major spoilers for the ending.)
