Communication - Desert Hearts - Vivian Bell/Cay Rivers - post moviecmk418March 5 2018, 21:38:36 UTC
In the months since they’d separated, Vivian sent long letters to Cay. Page after page, pouring out her feelings in neat handwriting with not a scratch-out in sight. Cay tried writing back, but she couldn’t manage more than a few words before balling up the paper and tossing it across the room. Vivian was the verbal one. Cay was more visual. In the end, she settled for a simple “I miss you. Love, Cay” and filled an envelope with photos of the desert- images of places they’d been or things that reminded Cay of their time together.
Over time, Vivian had amassed quite a collection of photographs, but her favorite was the one currently taking up occupancy on her nightstand. It wasn’t even taken by Cay. Silver had taken it at Cay’s request. It was a photo of Cay standing on the platform at the train station that Cay had hand-delivered when she arrived in New York.
