Damages rec-list and personal fic round up
I've been working on a Damages fic on and off for the past couple of weeks and had hoped to have it done by today, but that's looking less and less likely, so I thought I'd go ahead and post this anyway.
This year saw the last season of Damages, and despite a lackluster season four, I was excited enough to rewatch the first four seasons in preparation for the series finale. It completely reignited my love for the show, and especially the two main characters, Patty Hewes and Ellen Parsons. I haven't seen any love for them at halfamoon this year, which makes me sad because they are probably my favorite TV female relationship of the past few years. Mentor/protege, mother/daughter (ish), friends, enemies, so much subtext that at times it's practically text - all coupled with power plays, backstabbing, evolution, and somewhere deep down a genuine affection and recognition of kindred spirits. There's very little territory not explored in this relationship, and it's explored on a truly excellent show with fantastic supporting characters, (usually) brilliant writing, and truly astonishing performances from Glenn Close and Rose Byrne.
The only problem with the show, really, is that not enough people have seen it! The first four seasons are available for streaming on Netflix, and if you haven't watched it, it's well worth it. In the meantime, I've put together a mini rec-list for anyone interested.

"So, you are convinced that there is one defined and correct way to conduct your life, and you think that you can manage to find it. Not only will you know it when you see it, there will be no impossible circumstances to keep you from following what you are supposed to do. And you have concluded that once you are able to follow this mythical right thing to do, the universe will reveal itself to be a meritocracy and you will be justly rewarded." She frowned, slipping from mockery to anger. "I am so disappointed."

By Any Other Name - The Sarah Jane Adventures; Ellie Faber, Sarah Jane Smith, Clyde Langer. "'No one will ever forget that day,'" Clyde quotes, and his own smile fades into seriousness. "I didn't, you know."
Undone - The Closer; Sharon Raydor/Brenda Leigh Johnson. Later, Sharon will think that she really should have seen this coming.
Lest We Forget - Star Trek: The Next Generation; Beverly Crusher/Jean-Luc Picard. Everything about this world is wrong. When she reaches for him, she wonders if that’s what makes this okay.
