Media Recs with Women being Awesome.
Two reviews/recommendations for fiction focusing on their multiple, complex women:
Bioware's "Dragon Age" games utilize a fantasy setting close to "Game of Thrones" with a mythology that's very like the Arthurian myths, with one major difference: Instead of giving us a medieval fantasy view of gender dynamics as most fantasy fiction does, Dragon Age creates a world in which women are roughly the equal of men, where women hold influential and powerful positions within the world and within the narrative, with complex and open sexualities that they're not punished for. ABC's "Revenge" is a contemporary take on Alexandre Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo" with a woman at its center.
