[OOC] INFOPOST

Aug 27, 2015 01:17

It's been a while since I've done any kind of infopost, and I only have two characters, so what the hell, let's go ahead and do this right.

FRANK DOYLE
The Thrilling Adventure Hour (Beyond Belief)
(PB: Brendan Robinson)

(image credit to http://fyeahthrillingadventurehour.tumblr.com/; that is not Brendan Robinson in the picture)

The recently-ended podcast and stage show, The Thrilling Adventure Hour, featured several recurring "programs," maybe the most popular of which is titled Beyond Belief. In it, Frank and Sadie Doyle adore each others' company approximately as much as they enjoy drinking vast quantities of liquor. They have sung a song titled "Our Love Is the Best." They care little for other people, with most of that care coming from Sadie. And also, they see ghosts, and they constantly find themselves dealing with supernatural issues through no fault or effort of their own. The problems frequently come knocking on their front door, literally. And then they dispatch the problem through some combination of trickery, knowledge, yelling, ordering, and drinking, not necessarily in that order and some parts repeated. Especially the drinking.

But that's all in Frank's future. I'm focused on Frank's past, which is my present! Even as a teen, Frank is an experienced medium, a vicious monster hunter, and a constant drunk. After a bad experience with a demonic clown in his youth (more demonic than all other clowns, even!), Frank eventually found himself taken in by a church that really focused on attacking supernatural monsters in the name of the Lord, not to mention their own bloodlust. Very recently, Frank's girlfriend and first true love, Catherine, was killed by a demon and Frank found himself unable to bring her back to life on the anniversary of her death. As such, he's left that church (blaming the priest who sent her on that mission for her death, reasonably) and is trying to make his way in the world by beating up ghosts and drinking oh so very much. He doesn't have love to share at the moment, except for his love of drink. And let's get this straight right now: he loves liquor more than any of you put together in any combination.

Or to put it briefly:

*Hunts monsters, punches ghosts, what have you. Fandom residents who are literal monsters probably need not fear, but shouldn't make him think you deserve to be hunted or punched.

*Drinks all the time. He will absolutely drink in class. He will be armed with multiple flasks, just in case, in addition to the bottles. I apologize for any disruptions this may cause. Frank will argue that you need to apologize for disrupting his drink.

*Liquor, for the record. Beer in a desperate pinch. He will be very displeased if you force him to have wine, although he will someday give it an honest try.

*Honestly, probably isn't the best person to be friends with. He's as polite as he can manage out of having some social grace, but he doesn't really like people in general. But if you manage to make friends, he will be fiercely loyal unless it becomes decidedly inconvenient in a supernatural way, or he forgets who you are. He will probably forget who you are. I'm sorry, he's not.

*Corrects poor grammar. Cross your "who"s and dot your "whom"s around Frank Doyle. Seriously, if given the opportunity, assuming I don't blow it, I will absolutely respond to a ping with JUST a one word correction. I apologize for this. FRANK DOES NOT.

*And just to be up front, I will be regarding most pings Frank receives as potential set ups for punchlines. Think Yakko, but a little more serious and a lot more drunk.

*Is 16 years old and a junior.

*But no, is seriously a competent and capable foe if you cross him despite (or maybe because of) his state of constant inebriation. He's very knowledgable about everything from exorcism to stabbing things with swords, so stay on his... well, if not his good side, then at least his apathetic side. it is a VERY large side!

*Since Paul F Tompkins refuses to make it easy to find pictures of himself from the 90's, I'm forced to use some dude from Pretty Little Liars as Frank's PB. That said, WHAAAAAAAAT? Did this Robinson guy go back in time, Face/Off a young PFT, and he's now walking around with the same kind of cheeks, eyes, and eyebrows? It's weird. It's really weird.

*D&D Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

*Hogwarts House: Snuck out for butterbeer before the ceremony began. Also, has so many issues with the wizarding world.

JESSICA DREW
Ultimate Marvel / Spider-Verse
(PB: Zoey Deutch)

Jessica started out as the surviving altered clone of Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man in th Ultimate Universe, but she became a lot more. She learned deception and spycraft from Nick Fury, Carol Danvers, and Monica Chang. She learned combat and heroism from Captain America and the rest of the Ultimates. After the Galactus Event and the disbanding of the Ultimates, she formed her own all-new Ultimates and squashed a terrifying gang war that threatened to spiral out of control and eventually involved beating up a giant monster made of drugs (a description that isn't strictly accurate, but few enough people read it that I can make that claim freely!). She's faced down the military industrial complex that produced her and she's won major battles against them while staying within the bounds of the law.

She happened to be in Fandom when an Incursion hit her world, destroying it like so many others have been destroyed in the excellent current Marvel event, Secret Wars. She's made the best of it in Fandom, working two jobs and filling time as much as possible while searching in vain for her world and the people she loved. We'll see how Secret Wars ends before we find out if her world even CAN come back. I'm currently working under the assumption that it won't, at least not any time soon. After all, there are 8 years between Secret Wars #1 and Secret Wars #2.

Jessica is a goofy dork at heart, although she's had a lot of deep things in her mind recently. She's extremely driven toward her goals and is an excellent leader. She's the type of person who will decide that a powerful elder god or whatever should be arrested for his crimes against Fandom, and then SHE WILL ARREST HIM. She also really hates the state of the Fandom jail cells. So much. SO MUCH. Seriously, how has nobody magically locked that place down yet?

And finally, she spent years trying to figure out her identity thanks to being born a teenage girl with the memories of a teenage boy. She eventually came to terms with these facts: 1) She is Jessica Drew. 2) Peter Parker is a part of her foundation, and she will always try to honor his memory, but his legacy isn't hers to uphold. 3) She likes girls. And maybe now that the things she was doing obsessively have hit dead ends, maybe she can actually take time to explore that.

In brief:

*Pretty serious right now, jokey nerd deep down.

*Has a futile quest that's gotten her nowhere.

*Total badass who will mock you while beating you up.

*Has all kinds of crazy spider powers, too. Wall crawling, strength, jumping, danger sense, shooting webs from her fingers….

*Also a brilliant scientist. With Tony Stark's help, she designed and built a dimensional portal at Stark Industries. This has inspired a lawsuit from Portalocity, but Stark Legal is handling that.

*Is fairly open about the powers at this point. Doesn't often discuss her origins, but doesn't refuse talking about them. Is pretty open about her world being gone.

*Is biologically 20 years old.

*D&D Alignment: Lawful Good. So lawful that even when she got sneaky and used an outside group of superheroes to bring down the guy running her nemesis evil corporation, Roxxon, in such a way that it caused issues for SHIELD, she did so completely within the law and in a foolproof way to lock him up.

*Hogwarts House: Gryffindor.
NICK

Chicago architect who doesn't have as much time as he used to. I like bad puns and I cannot lie, you other players can't deny that when a word gets play you want to say that it was really funny and you laughed.

*Loves Spider-Man more than he loves anyone in his extended family. Sorry, cousins, he's just more important than you!

*Loves the Chicago Cubs almost as much, and can't believe how much better they are than even he expected this year.

*Is one of the game's few guys.

*Has availability that doesn't mesh with anyone in game, but if you're ever around in the evenings, I probably am too!

*D&D Alignment: Neutral Good. I'd claim Lawful, but I spent six months at my last job blatantly defying parking rules and bragging about it.

*Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw. My life is essentially moments lived between wordplay.
