See, I find that entire train of logic odd, too, because of course popular pairings are going to get more fills. But that's because lots of people also request for those things, and people in turn fill them. But I've seem plenty of crack ship requests, and if that's someone's thing, then they shouldn't let that stop them from filling. There are plenty of ships in this fandom that I would not have even considered (Gamzee/Nepeta, hello) had it not been for the few people who chose to fill those less popular requests. Bitching about pairings being popular and getting too many fills just seems fruitless, because hey, people are gonna ship what they want to ship and write for the pairings they like. Which is what fandom is all about as far as I know, so. I don't view it as a "circle jerk" so much as being interested in the same thing, gasp.

But yes basically I just mean, "yes, yes, I agree with you entirely."

But yeah, of course. Fans are awesome and it's always nice to have them, anons shouldn't even lie. But it's not like you write just to have fans or to have your ego stroked. Some people actually like the pairings they write for, gaiz. Really. It's not your fault other people like your fic, and just because you sign your name on it doesn't mean you're trying to just get people to fall over themselves with adoration. It's nice, but come on, that's kind of silly. Also the argument about not how you shouldn't want to sign your name on the kink meme in the first place is hilarious because following that logic there would be no NC-17 fic at all. And that would make me cry.

Agreed. I can honestly understand and sympathize with loving a pairing that isn't popular and doesn't get much recognition (even if I do love John/Karkat like burning and they're all over the place and speaking of, when you get a new computer I am spamming you with art all over AIM - I, um, might have built up a small collection in the mean time), because I have a few even in this fandom, but that's exactly why filling is important on a kink meme. It makes people go hey this is awesome, maybe I'll try and write some myself. I've always found that the crack ship fics get a lot of appreciation, even if the ship itself isn't really popular with the fans because holy crap, you wrote that really awesome. Keep it up, dude, etc.

This whole comment exactly, with regard to the rarepairs especially. I mean, how the fuck do people think that John/Eridan got to be such a popular thing? That's not canon, that's not even HINTED at in canon. It was just one person, and then two people, and then more people who wrote things and drew things and got the fandom interested and now it's popular. That's how you deal with there not being enough of your OTP on the meme, anons.

And yeah, I wouldn't write at all if I didn't sincerely love John/Karkat and Dave/Terezi and the other pairings I ship and if I didn't love exploring the world and the relationship dynamics and etc. The fact that I can do so while also stretching my writing muscles and having fun and meeting people is just an extra bonus, and let's be honest, it's not even like I'm cluttering up the meme with my comment threads, since all of those are, gasp, on my own personal journal. So.

Very true. Same thing with Gamzee/Tavros - I have absolutely NO clue how that one started but obviously someone got the idea and ran with it and now it's also one of those popular crack ships. Which I say awesome, all the power to them.

Yeah that pairing is pretty much ingrained so far into the fandom that I thought it actually WAS canon until I finished reading HS and realized that no, what the shit, it's just that fucking popular a pairing. Then again I also thought that John/Karkat was canon and persist in that delusion so I am not at all the most reliable source.

Pfffft. By the way you should finish some of that fic you were working on. And by some of it I mean all of it. Even the Karkat/Jade one which I find bluh but you should do it anyway and I will support you. I will support the fuck out of you okay.

Ahahaha, I keep on meaning to continue all of that junk, but I've got a crippling case of the lazies since like weeks ago, and I've noticed this pattern that when I start writing things, ultimately I end up getting new ideas and start writing those instead. And thus the old things never get finished. But I will get it done eventually and appreciate the support! ♥

They'll just have to live in a no-hug world, then, while we all embrace and write awesome porn and keep it all to ourselves.

I firmly believe that John♦Karkat will become canon at some point even if concupiscent stuff is impossible, unless of course Karkat dies. It would just be too damn adorable for that not to happen. I sort of think the same thing. John♦Karkat seems pretty obvious to me right now at least, yeah, especially with the recent apology over Pesterchum with Karkat calling John the better leader and all that. And I'm still holding out for Karkat not dying, or at least not until they can meet face to face, but who knows. I'm also one of those people who think if they do go pale, they'll eventually go red when they get a little older, maybe sort of who knows Hussie is the biggest troll ever but we love him anyway y/y/pie. ... Dude, if we don't do this after we're finished with the first one, I will be as mopey and sad as Eridan. Which translates out to FUCK YES in case that wasn't obvious.
