You may recall that I spent a good portion of Earth Day
running around my office building putting signs in the conference rooms asking people to turn off the lights when they leave the room. I'm thrilled to report that this is working swimmingly; the frequency with which I find unoccupied conference rooms with the lights on has decreased dramatically (except in the board room, because no one knows how to operate those things).
What's interesting is that, now that the conference rooms are taken care of, I find myself searching for other lights I can turn out. Bathroom empty when I'm done washing my hands? Off it goes. Copy room empty when all my scanning is finished? Out! Nobody in the mail room when I pass by? Darkness descends.
So the question of the day is this: What things in your life, when you do them, do you find yourself doing more of, perhaps in greater quantities, or to a deeper depth or a higher level?
In addition to turning off lights at work, mine include writing, reading, and riding my bike.
