Leora and I took Mister Brown outside Saturday. He didn't fight the harness, and other than the couple of times he got tangled up in it, he barely noticed the leash at all. At first he just huddled on the front steps or Leora's shoulders, looking around. All of a sudden, he leaped down, raced through the side gate, and started running around the back yard. He thought Leora was chasing him and kept turning around to look at her; we don't think he understood that she was actually connected to him. He was completely freaked out and completely exhilarated. And I didn't think it was possible, but now he looks even more forlorn when he looks out the windows - out at the freedom he tasted ever-so-briefly before the mean humans dragged him back into captivity.
