My boss is having trouble designing the cover of his to-be-published book (for a number of reasons; who ever said "Design by Committee" was a good idea?!). Now, I don't want to be formally involved in this at all but it certainly gets my creative juices going. It just makes me think;
Ok, the demographic is women between 25-35. Competition has covers that look like this. [searches Amazon] The book's graphics look like this. [looks inside book] Title is this. Visuals that allude to content include this. Appropriate color combinations that would stand out are these. Novel covers popular with women are those. You know, all the things they had us research in graphic design school before we ever started working on a project
Of course my opinions/suggestions (should I make any) are a bust because my sense of aesthetic "is not that of normal women," apparently. [Read: the guys here don't believe I can think like a woman; take that how you will. They say that real women don't fence or play D&D.]
But...but...but... My creative fingers are twitching. I want to make something!
