Baaah, I've gotten behind on my flist again. I HATE it when I do that, I feel like I'm missing out on everyone's lives.
And the love meme. XD; That, too. If I have some time before I go to the con tomorrow (which I am totally excited about, eeeeeee!) I'll try to spread some love around. If not, ILU? ♥
Things I've accomplished towards getting ready for NDK today:
-Selected everything I want autographed (Monica Rial gave me the most trouble, since I love her work but own very little things that she's a main character in--eventually I settled on her signing one of my Chrono Crusade manga (she's Fiore)).
-Gotten most of my laundry done (including the white shirts that Autor's wig bled on, and Autor's white pants that Chrono's red shorts bled on)
-Uhhhhhh....Uhhhh...Ummmmmm!
Things I still need to do:
-Buy a cummerbund and suspenders for Chrono's costume (OH. MY. GOSH. HOW DID I FORGET THIS?! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!)
-Wash Chrono's outfit sans shirt and shorts, wash Autor's jacket
-Write a few more fics for Chris Patton if I can manage it, then print it off and figure out some nice way to present it to him
-Pack.
-Get money for food and hotel from my Dad
-WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING ALL DAY AAAAAGH HALEY NO BAD BAD BAD HALEY BAAAD BAD BAD!
yghjkl;kjhgjkl;kjhg I didn't realize how far behind I was. WRRRYYYYYYYYY HALEY YOU LAZY LAZY...PERSON.
Okay. Okay, so..cummerbund and costume stuff is obviously high priority. Packing will be easy, I'm not flying anywhere. And the money. The money I really need to get.
...Oh Chris I might not have those fics to give you. ;-; I fail. I FAIL. WRY WRY WRY
Okay, well...to...calm myself down before I go to sleep, I have memes. Most are from
jupiter_star.
1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.
1. Black*Star from Soul Eater
Sooo, I've been watching Soul Eater for a little bit, thanks to Kris' awesome cosplay of Death the Kid, and the awesome crew we have on
polychromatic. And Black*Star...
...Is one of my least favorite characters, and he annoys the heck out of me. I'M SORRY. I TRIED. XD;;; He's growing on me a little, though, so that's good. In general I think I might like the show--I'm up to episode 7 so far--but I don't think I'll have the raging love for it that a large number of my friends seem to have. (Okay, Kris and Manda, BUT THAT'S A LARGE NUMBER TO ME, OKAY? I'M ALWAYS TALKING TO THEM.)
2. Boromir from Lord of the Rings
You know, I actually didn't like Boromir when I read the books, but the movie made me see him in a more sympathetic light and understand his motivations a bit more. Now, whether that's a sign of Adaptation Distillation or Adaptation Decay, I'm not sure. (TV Tropes terms. Go look 'em up if you're curious.)
That being said, today's secret about Frodo and Boromir on
fandomsecrets was way off base.
3. The Bookmen from Princess Tutu
HAH *dies* I'm sorry, I thought of it and I couldn't resist.
The Bookmen....I've never been able to figure out how I like them. Part of me likes the whole scary secret council thing they got going, you know? Cloaks and axes and torches are cool. But the one that we actually get to see his face is...kinda creepy. Like a frog. Riiibbit. I probably would've liked them better if they were all bishounen. Which is probably the point of not making them bishounen.
4. Bob the Tomato from Veggie Tales
Oh Bob. Bob, you lovable straight man, you. I really like the straight man types. The sort that are surrounded by chaos, and all they can do is sigh, shake their heads, and do their best to put up with it. It's like being a school teacher, daycare worker, or youth group leader, except funnier because it's fictional so we feel no guilt for laughing at their pain. Here's to YOU, unflappable straight man!
As an additional note, at my old church in San Angelo there was an Elder (now the Pastor) named Bob Beaver. Wonderful guy. He once got a t-shirt from someone--I forget who--that had Bob the Tomato on it, and a speech bubble that said "Hi! I'm Bob, and I'm here to help you!" Somehow, poor Bob had not seen VeggieTales (for SHAME) and had no idea why, exactly, he was a tomato. I think someone explained it to him.
5. Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Ahhhh, my childhood role model. Part of the reason I was obsessed with this movie as a kid (and, indeed, it is my favorite to this day) was the heroine. She was the Disney princess I pointed to and said "She's like ME!" Brunette, a bookworm, a big imagination, stubborn, and not exactly a tomboy but not caught up in being a girly girl, either. I love her and all that she stands for.
Huh, that wasn't as hard as I was expecting.
Meme: Pick the first line from your last twenty-five fanfics and see if you can find a pattern.
Now you guys can all see how I fail at fic openings. XD
1. The concept of heirlooms wasn’t one Duck had been familiar with before she became a girl, but she liked it.
2. “I don’t understand how you can be so cheerful about this.”
3. It had been a shock when Fakir had been confronted with the reality of his place in the story.
4. My name is Autor.
(Yes, I think the vague illusion to Animorphs was intentional.)
5. Once upon a time, there was a prince who loved everyone.
6. The blood-red crystal felt warm in her hands as she brought it close to her eyes.
7. A duck is a tiny, insignificant animal.
8. As a young prince, Siegfried had been fond of sweets.
9. Lilie knew it wasn’t polite to stare, but she did anyway.
10. He was still, his eyes closed, his breathing soft, but he was awake.
11. Fakir didn’t allow himself to stop and look at the crows that were once his neighbors and classmates, nor did he allow the pain in his right hand to stop him.
12. The whispers were hard to ignore.
13. As soon as Autor got home he sat down at his piano and began to play.
14. Fakir had taken a break from writing to do what he should’ve done a long time ago-clean out his bookshelf.
15. “I’m sorry Autor, but he isn’t here.”
16. However, the Nightingale flew too far and flew beyond even the borders of the story, and then…
17. Autor had decided to surprise his mother while she was out by tidying up around the house.
18. There’s nothing wrong with me.
19. Autor was often the first student to arrive in the library after classes, and he was almost always the last to leave.
20. “It’s just not fair!”
21. Autor knew all about love.
22. One of the first things Johanna had noticed when she first arrived home was the lack of decorations in her old house.
23. It had started with Autor inviting himself over to Fakir’s home.
24. It was a balmy, beautiful spring day as Autor sat down in the living room with his favorite book.
25. It had bothered Johanna since her very first morning back home, but she hadn’t wanted to bring it up to Autor.
So, what have we learned today?
-...I haven't written all that much since the Autor challenge, and it shows. XD;;;
-Apparently, I always, always focus on the characters before I describe the setting. (This doesn't surprise me, characters interest me the most.)
-Looking over some of my old stuff...I REALLY need to break that habit of blocks 'o text when it comes to dialogue and break it up with some action. because my dialogue can get really annoying.
-Writing for a fandom besides Tutu would be nice.
-...I need sleep.
Night-night.
