I love a class that gives me a chance to babble about animation!
Wooo, I'm really looking forward to our next speech in Public Speaking. We're going to do an informative speech on the topic "Speech of Illustration"...we have to pick a topic that's a sort of visual artist or style (a painter, a photographer, a film director, an art style, etc) and give an informative speech on it.
A few minutes after we were told what the next speech would be, my brain started BUUUUUZZing with ideas for possible topics! What I've got so far:
Mary Cassatt
Vincent Van Gogh
Andy Warhol
Steven Spielberg
Tim Burton
Peter Jackson
Hayao Miyazaki (I love doing reports on this man--I've already done two on him XD;;)
Satoshi Kon
Charles Schultz (I THINK that's his name--the man that wrote Charlie Brown?)
Hideki Anno
Walt Disney
George Lucas
John Lasseter
Brad Bird
Frank Capra
Don Bluth
Nick Park
I-I have too many, but that's better than none at all. XD;; I WANT TO DO THEM ALL D=
I'm PARTICULARLY wanting to do Burton, Miyazaki, Kon, Disney, Bird or Anno, although I'm thinking of eliminating Miyazaki from the list because...well...I ALWAYS do Miyazaki. XD;;; Kon I'd love to do, bt I'm not sure if he'd be easy to research or not. Anno would probably be a lot easier to research than Kon (NGE has inspired at least a few books, I know, and debate still RAGES on the internet about it--the new movies coming out only helps), but I also don't want to, um, squick my audience, so I'd have to think of a good way to narrow his topic that I can talk about NGE without...freaking them out. XD;; Burton would be lovely to do, but I don't know how I'd narrow the topic yet (3-5 minutes is not a lot of time)...Disney, I'd probably focus on a particular film, perhaps Snow White or Sleeping Beauty....Brad Bird is another director I don't know if I could find research on, but I'd love to try.
...Dude, I just realized my entire list of "particularly want to do" are animators, except for kinda-sorta not Burton, but he's been INVOLVED with animation...

I almost considered doing Junichi Sato or Ikuko Itoh (because, yes, Princess Tutu), but (1)I already mentioned Tutu in my first speech, (2) my teacher suggested to not to a topic you feel "passionately" about, because if you're too emotional about it the speech could go from informative to persuasive, and I'm DEFINITELY passionate about Tutu, and (3) where in the world would I find three college-level sources?! I don't know. D=
...So, yes. ...I think the ones I want to do the MOST right now are either Brad Bird (because Rata-can'tspellthefilm'sname was freaking AWESOME) or Satoshi Kon (because his visuals are STUNNING), but I haven't decided yet...
Oh well, I have some time yet.
