OMG! The country is closing down, further south! I bet there are plenty of people having snow days at the moment, anyway - major roads are closed all over the place and the ferries and planes out of Wellington are stalled. It's not as bad in Auckland because we just don't get snow (when I say that, the last time it snowed here it melted on impact, and the time prior was 70 years earlier, so I couldn't tell you what it did). However, it is chilly...
The hubby and I walked to the train (to go to work) from our new house for the first time today - 15 mins! That is awesome! The train takes 10 mins to get to where we work, and our walk from the station to the office is about 3 mins. Not a bad commute, even though driving to work on a good day takes 10 mins from the house... ironically, we moved closer to work in order to take the train without driving to the station, but now it's so much easier in the car!
Still, we wanted to incorporate some form of exercise into our daily routine and this at least means we get a nice downhill walk each morning, and a 20 min return uphill walk each afternoon for the cardio, without doing anything extra! (although to be fair, I am very tempted to go home by train for one stop and then jump on a bus which takes us a little closer to home and at the top of the ridge, where the 7 min walk from the bus stop is flat! ;-))
