A Tale of Two Kitties

Over the duration of my stay in Korea many things have stood out as being different, and most of these differences I can attribute to culture.  Rare indeed is the difference attributable to something else.  In this case, the “something else” has to do with physiology, the physiology of cats!

After reading the previous sentence you must be thinking, “What the fizuck!?”  So please, allow me to explain.  The vast majority of Korean cats have shorter tails than US cats.  There.  That about explains it.  Well, except it doesn’t.

These “tail deficient” cats, henceforth to be referred to as td cats, clearly have tails; they’re not “bob tail” or Manx cats.  Oh no.  These td cats have tails.  They’re just half the length of typical, North American cats'.  For proof of this, all one need do is go walking around Seoul.

But what’s that you say?  You’re presently unable to go skulking about the streets of Seoul hoping to spot a td cat.  Well fret not.  For it just so happens that I managed to photograph a td cat in its natural habitat.  Its natural habitat being the filthy streets of Seoul.  Have a look-see:  Gottcha!  See?
