And Behind the Mask

Jul 19, 2007 17:09

This story is exactly the opposite of how I've always pictured Sungmin, but I've seen a variety of posts lately where people say they see him as 'fake' or 'hard to read' and I thought, "Hmm, now that would make for an interesting story." Hopefully, it did.

And Behind the Mask
pairing: Eunhyuk/Sungmin

He stayed on the roof until his teeth began to chatter, until the giant harvest moon blurred in his vision, until the lights of Seoul lost their charm. )

rating: mature content, !fic, character: sungmin, fandom: super junior, character: hyukjae

Painful. Gorgeous. My OTP and a gorgeous fic. This is how I picture Sungmin. This is how I always have and how a lot of others do too. I think...there might be some truth to our version of Sungmin because no one can be that happy all the time. This was beautiful. Although I doubt if you will because this is great on its own, a part of me hopes for a sequel. In which they live happily ever after. *OTP craze*

but either way, I love this piece and you did fantastically.

I can totally see why they're your OTP; they're growing on me at an alarming rate. As for a sequel...there's a part of me that really wants to write Hyukmin shinyhappy!fic because I have guilt issues about making Sungmin sad. Truth be told, my original plan was to make him totally heartless and evil in this fic, and I think it would've turned out better, but I just...couldn't. Making Sungmin sad makes me sad. *is batshit!insane*

In any event, thanks for reading!

I've never pictured Sungmin as EVIL and HEARTLESS, but definitely sad, worn out, tired, emotionally drained. My poor Sungminnie. lol. When I write Sungmin I try to write him as a more down to earth character, not cutesey and babyish, unless he has to be for some reason.

Don't write happyfic because you're guilty, write it because you want them to be happy. XD

God that sent chills down my spine. Cause yeah... that's Sungmin for you.

Wow. It was good. I liked it a lot, even though Sungmin creeped me out. ♥ ;;

And to think, I was considering making him even more creepy! It's so interesting that so many people see Sungmin like this; I guess I'm starting to too...

Well DAMN.........That was amazing, Gods, its so real and raw and perfect! To me, Sungmin seems to be a genuinely happy person, but it would also be very easy to see him like this. I've often thought that Minnie forces his smile occasionally, and I'm probably just projecting but it would be so hard to be that happy all the time, especially with him being in entertainment.

There is something rather beautiful about the pain that Sungmin and Eunhyuk both feel. That with all the emotions that Sungmin has portrayed to create this image, hes lost himself so completely.
And now I'm rambling. There is honestly not enough that I could say to praise this fic. Thanks for sharing!!

Wow, thanks. I've always felt the same way about Sungmin: yes, has his share of problems, and yes, totally mugs for the camera in a forced (albeit adorable) way, but fundamentally is full of sunbeams and rainbows. Still, there's something about deadinside!Sungmin that's kind of compelling...

Anyway, I'm really glad you liked it!

omg ;-; this is really... such a poignant portrayal of Sungmin and Eunhyuk both. I love the dream imagery--so vividly creepy and fitting to the story.

I acutally had the idea for the mask motif and dream imagery first and built the story out of that; I'm glad you felt they fit together!
