The rooftop that they lay on somehow felt as warm as the inside of the tower. Maybe the warmth from the festivities going on inside leaked outside to them. Or it could have possibly been their feelings and love for each other that kept them warm. Another year was about to come and Tim Drake and Conner Kent wanted nothing but to spend their last few moments of the year together and bring in the new year together. Tim sat wedged in between Conner’s legs, head rested on his shoulder while Conner held Tim as close as he could without hurting him.
“Conner…” Tim broke the silence, and for some reason was nervous about what he was about to say to his love and to his best friend. He hesitated for a minute and Conner could tell by his body language that he had been thinking about what he was about to say for a long while now.
“Yea Tim?” He knew not to pressure Tim too much, but most of the time, he needed a little push to say what he really wanted to say. Conner squeezed just a little tighter as to let Tim know that he was here and he would never let him go. Just as Tim began to open his lips to speak, screams from the inside of the tower let the two of them know that the countdown to the new year had just begun. “Lucked out, huh?” Conner joked. “You want to go inside and watch the ball drop with everyone?”
Tim smiled and slowly moved his head back and forth.
“I’d rather just stay out here with you.”
“Good choice.”
“Happy New Year.”
“Happy New Year, Tim.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
