A Ramshackle Night

Last night was amazing! Chris is my hero for taking over the last hour or so of my RS shift so I could play beer pong and rock out to two amazing bands: Flamingo Gunfight and Sex, Funk & Danger. Flamingo is Ryland's friends' band and they were phenomenal. It was sad that so few people came to see them. Sex, Funk, & Danger is the reunited and renamed version of Thumper and the Booty Groovers, to which conductors Karl and Josh belong. Both bands were amazing, but I think I like Flamingo's overall sound better. I just can't get rock out of my roots. I wish I had payed more attention during Flamingo's show, but Ryland dragged me into a game of beer pong as soon as Chris took over the radio.

During the SF&D set Shannon and I started dancing and Jake from Flamingo grabbed my camera and started taking pictures. It was fun dancing and trying to pose well for the camera. Jake is most definitely hot and I remember thinking that when I met him last year at the Unitrans Pre-Halloween Party. Somehow I ended up sitting next to Jake and talking to him for the majority of SF&D's set. I feel kind of bad because when I initially walked by him and he said "hello" I just replied "hey" like I didn't really know him because I couldn't place where I knew him from. I ended up telling him that and we had a good laugh about it.

From that point on I spent the better part of the night practically attached to Jake, which we did get some flack for especially when making out in the middle of the living room. He is defintiely fun and very easy to talk to. After leaving the Ramshack and migrating to a party at Mick's house on Pole Line (formerly Sam and PV/Mike's house) Jake and I meandered back to the Ramshack to just chill and hang out. We seemed to have the same idea as everyone else because they seemed to follow us back in waves. First was Steve less than five minutes behind us and about 15 minutes behind him was Ryland, Thom and Shannon. Both Alex and Amber got left at the party, but I think they wanted to.

I was really glad that Jake got to stay in Davis last night and hang otu with us rather than going back to Concord with the rest of the band. I have to say that last night was the most fun I have had in a single night in several months. And bassists are always the hot ones ;)
