The lunch I think Jenny is refering too was not with Ultras, it was with an informal group of journalists and twitter users dubbed "la Yihad Moudradista", a name Siro López, among others, have taken too with gusto. It took place in March last year or there abouts and I don't think Diego López was involved, it was Arbeloa and Xabi who arranged it.
I don't think there's much to it, the main reason "the lunch" keeps popping back up is that some of the twitter users who participated (https://twitter.com/atooca (who has given interviews about his lunches with Arby), https://twitter.com/Chamartin4ever and https://twitter.com/Haiku_T) has a tendency to post some truly unpleasant things about Iker and Sergio. And VdB. And well, everyone who is not Arbeloa, Bale, López or Xabi.
Mr Haiku (who Arbeloa has acknowledged is a friend) and the Chamartin guy were very involved with Primavera Blanca, the "platform" the club put in charge of organising the Grada Joven. PB has since decended into cilvil war and their president has resigned (this guy: https://twitter.com/guerreroburgos Such a lovely man. Besides worshipping Mou, hating most of our players and just being an all around asshole, he also has a long history of rampant homophobia. I have no idea what the club was thinking involving PB in *anything*.), but Haiku and Chamartin has kept their places in the Grada Sur which might have been what let to confusion of these guys with the Ultra Sur.
A few months ago a picture of López having lunch with Ochaíta, one of the leaders of US, was making the rounds but I didn't save the link and I have no clue what the actual context was. It could just be Ochaíta asking López for a pic for all I know.
Arbeloa's actions on twitter tends to generate a lot of backlash, mostly because of some of the people he follows. Of course he is not responsible for their actions, but when people he interacts with openly wishes for Sara to miscarry and later goes after Martín I cannot help to let it reflect in my view of Arbeloa.
Oh and the shirts. Arbeloa and López threw their shirts to the Grada Sur after the Elche match, but if it was to welcome back the Sur or to their friends in from the PB idk.
Because he represents the unabashed, unapologetic Perez-era in so many ways. Everything about the transfer - even the way his price doubled as soon as we made the enquiry (Perez spent the summer bidding against himself) seems to symbolize what you could claim Madrid of the last decade brought to world football: massive spending on unimaginable scales to get instant success.
So consider it a sort of indirect approval of Perez. There's no Mourinho - the Galactico coach - anymore. But we've got Bale? I dunno. I don't think these people think things through very clearly.
