I don't know about any of you, but I certainly don't need any excuse to love on Cristiano! So here's a pretty round-up of pictures and things from today's (yesterday's?) inauguration of Museu CR7. Feel free to add to this in the comments or to just express your love for Cristiano in general, either/or.
From the mothership:
The CR7 Museum in Funchal
" Located in a street called Princesa Dona Amelia in his home town, the museum will open on the 17th of December and shows photographs and objects that portray the most important moments in the career of the Real Madrid forward.
The CR7 Museum is the perfect place to learn all about the most important moments in the career of the Portuguese forward from the man himself. Located in Princesa Dona Amelia Street in his home town, Funchal, it opens on the 17th of December and shows photographs and objects that portray the most important moments in the career of the Real Madrid forward. Thanks to the variety of material personally donated by the Portuguese footballer, this exhibition presents all of the individual and collective honors that he has achieved. It is a tribute to nearly 29 years of life and success and the best way to understand the football career of the Real Madrid player.
There are more than fifty objects in the exhibition, including representations of some of the honors he has achieved on a club level, individual trophies such as the Ballon d’Or, the FIFA World Player award which he won in 2008, the European Golden Shoe from the 2007/08 season and a huge amount of family and personal photos donated by the Portuguese star.
However, what will surely grab the attention of Real Madrid fans is the European Golden Shoe from the 2010/11 season and the section which includes all of the balls signed by his teammates in those games in which he has scored a hat-trick or more during his career. Of the 26 balls displayed here, 23 of them are from games he has played for the Whites. The CR7 Museum shows us the career of a player who has triumphed wherever he has played, and the exhibition will be open to the public in Princesa Dona Amelia Street in Funchal from the 17th of December."
Arriving
Looking sauve as shit.
Junior already rocking the thumbs up, learned it from the best. And you know what? Bless Mama Dolores for wearing animal prints to every event no matter the occasion.
Pepe, who used to play in Madeira, returned to the island to support his bro in his momentous occasion!
Unveiling
Cristiano Jr helped his dad get the show on the road. They're taking down the flag of Madeira to unveil the museum's entrance plate. Holding Cris Jr is Alberto João Jardim, the president of the regional government of Madeira.
The wax figure
Once inside, the main attraction seemed to be the unveiling of yet another wax replica.
The media was all about it...
Mama Dolores and sister Elma were loving it...
Even Kepler...
Cristiano Jr just thinks it's hilarious....
Even Irina, who has no need whatsoever for a wax replica, seemed to be all about that statue...
... with whom she got to be pretty well acquainted with the day before. (via Irina's Instagram)
Another award to add to the collection, this one from the Portuguese National Team.
Official pictures
With the Madeiran president and family.
Irina, flawless as ever, looks stunning in white and peplum.
Looking like football's royal couple. #bowdown
Cutting a Ballon D'Or and Golden Boot themed cake.... lol
Inside the museum
Lots of individual awards...
...and collective ones, too! I spy a Champions League trophy there! Cristiano said, "There will always be room for La Decima."
Commemorating winning the league with Real Madrid.
Cristiano's hat trick balls had their own display case.
Both of Cristiano's Golden Boots were on display in the museum. Hopefully he'll have to squeeze in another to display at the end of the season.
Regarding the Ballon D'Or, Cristiano laughed, "I'll always have extra room for another!"
How nice of El Buitre to come as Real Madrid's sole representative to share in Cristiano's event.
Even some gifts from fans made the display.
Media
Because Hugo spearheaded the museum project and oversaw the construction of it, he was there to help Cristiano answer some of the more technical questions. (For example, how many trophies are on display? According to Hugo, there are 126.)
Videos!
Cute video! Cristiano discusses the museum and its contents, laments the fact that his father isn' there to see this (until Hugo reminds him that their father is always present), Cristiano Junior tells everyone what his father's name is ("Ronaaaaaldooo."), Irina answers questions with a bit of cheek, and Mama Dolores reminds everyone, "I'm the one who gave birth to him!"
