9 months and thriving

Just a few days away from the kids turning 9 months old and they've developed so much.

Ethan is army crawling quite well. He loves chasing after Ru to grab her hair/tail/foot. I'm surprised Ru puts up with it. He gives great hugs. Has two bottom teeth - no sight of the top teeth yet. He loves standing on your lap. Is still a really good eater. He's so smiley -- it's the best. He knows to put his arms out to be picked up, and when you pick him up he holds onto your arms tightly. He's getting better at feeding himself, but he still forgets to chew. He's a great sleeper -- only really had a handful of nights where he'd wake up wailing, but I think that was because he was teething. He's not figured out how to pull him up into the sitting position and I'm not hurrying to teach him either.

Ellinor, as of today, is crawling on all fours -- although she's usually content just sitting and playing with toys. She's also pulling herself up to standing in her crib. I taught her how to pull herself into the seated position, but I kind of regret it because she ends up doing that instead of sleeping. She's got two bottom and two top teeth and it's cool to see her learning how to use them. She can bite into toast now! (which is a great lure to make her crawl). She's a little bit of a picky eater and she lets you know she doesn't like something by blowing raspberries -- unfortunately with the food coming out at the same time. The last few days we've been trying the cry-it-out method to get her sleeping at nights. It's brutal, but I have high hopes it'll work. Its so brutal Ethan ends up sleeping in my room so we can both sleep better.

Me, I'm doing well. Most days I'm some form of tired, but it's not too bad. I miss climbing like crazy, but I figure I can only do one extracurricular activity and I've decided to go with choir for the time being. Maybe at the turn of the new year I'll look into climbing again. I do like the idea of doing something where I have to perform or practice, like hula. Although I miss hula too. Work is ok. I'm getting to know my team better and that's making things nice. The relationship with my mom is sometimes challenging with the kids -- she doesn't seem to really care that they need naps or meals at a regular time. I'm trying not to freak out about it too much.

Halloween is coming up and I'm excited to get the kids dressed up. I'm thinking Ethan will be a wolf. Elli will be red riding hood and I'll be grandma. Either that or the kids will be a farm animal and I'll be a farmer.
