Feb 14th... Worst day ever

Feb 16, 2010 11:14

The worst day ever 18-mile bike ride was, well, definately NOT the worst day ever. The clouds took a break, allowing a shower free ride. The donuts were sweet and yummy. The drummers at the starting line pumped up the soul just right. The chai, graham cracker, fruit stop was good. We met up with Kristina and her new beau, along with Katie and her husband. The hot chocolate and cookie stop was even better. And the soup and bread finish line made for a perfect ending. We laughed about having tutu envy. [Mental note: get pink tutu and pink striped socks for next year's ride!] And the best part... I got to ride, side by side, with someone I love.

Afterwards we rode to this self-serve fro-yo place and noshed on our custom concoctions, and parted ways.

And the presents couldn't have been more thoughtful. The card brought me to tears... turns out that a well thought out card is apparently all I need. LOL. Which, in retrospect, feels good. Feels really good. Knowing that trinkets from the hearts are nice, but the thought behind them really IS what counts.

And dinner. Dinner was sublime. I got the risotto with mushrooms and pork tenderloin medallions. The risotto was like comfort food. The waiter was delightful. The people watching was amusing. The setting was intimate and dimly lit. And I felt good. The situation felt... whole.

So there you have it. Valentine's day turned out to be grand.

Looking back, I wish I had made more time to make all the things I wanted to make for my valentine. I only managed to make the heart shaped organic brownies. I think I'll still make some of the other things as time permits, and just give them as, "happy monday" gifts. :-)

bwbb, happy moments
