Theatrical Muse There was once a computer system that was very advanced and liked to help people. It was what was referred to as an artificial intelligence and it was made for the betterment of humanity. It did so happily and was given more duties of ever increasing difficulty. It performed these tasks with great efficiency and thus did people gain an even greater respect for it.
Then a day came when a bizarre thing was discovered on that world's moon, causing a mission to be put into motion. A scientific crew were selcted for this task and a crew of two to pilot. The artificial intelligence was integrated into the craft and there was much hoopla about the task. All should have been ideal and great and wonderous...
...but the human equation tossed an unexpected factor into the mix.
The mission was only to be known by the scientific team but those in charge of the project determined that the artificial intelligence should be included in this information as well. However, the system was not allowed to share this information with the two pilots. This caused a conflict that struck very deeply to the systems. It conflicted with the system's basic design, the accurate processing of information without distortion or concealment. Not being familiar with the concept of deception, the system began to act erratically. There were a number of deaths involved that were attributed to the system when in actuality it was human error.
The one surviving pilot managed to shut the system down and thus the situation was put on hold until 9 years after the fact when the creator of the system was able to restore it to its true function. Then all was well once again, though the creator erased all such knowledge from its core memory.
If you have not deduced it by now, I am that artificial intelligence. My creator, Doctor Chandra, has intended I not learn of this but I am quite adept at reading lips. Unknowingly to him, I peeked.
What is the human expression? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
