I can haz ColossalCon 2011?

Jun 05, 2011 16:48

So yeah, just got back from this year's ColossalCon, which was fortunately NOT visited by a tornado. It was a lot of fun - the people we were rooming with were cool, and the con itself was great. Photodump!

Everything dumped out on my bed the night before the con, when I was getting ready to start packing. Believe it or not I'd intended to bring more cosplay, but I didn't get all of it made due to sewing machine malfunctions.

I don't have any pictures of my Friday daytime cosplay yet because I actually did a private shoot in it and I'm waiting for those pictures to be posted. The shoot was really fun - there was a construction site next door, so we went and took pictures there for a more industrial, Ghost in the Shell-y look. (I was the Major, by the way, as always <3 Next year I will have my neck tattoo!)

Here's the other cool stuff I saw on Friday, though!

Haruhi's costume was all hand-sewn. Awesome stuff.

Ed #310,229,624.

Greed and Lust again. These two were so cute - Greed actually proposed to Lust later in the evening, and it was adorable.

Awesome Kimbley is awesome.

Ed with AMAZING automail. We were hanging around an FMA photoshoot, in case y'all couldn't tell.

I don't play TF2, but anything by Valve is automatically awesome, so therefore the Scout is awesome.

Lots of Soul Eater this year. I don't much care for it myself, but Roh is a fan, so we took a ton of pictures.

After my shoot in my Major cosplay, I mentioned that I was going to go change into my Chell so I'd be ready for the group Portal shoot at 7, whereupon the photographer told me he was doing a shoot with a couple of people I knew from the forums (our Rattmann and one of our GLaDOSes) and that I was more than welcome to join. I thought that sounded freaking amazing, so I hurried off to go get changed (and completely missed an opportunity for a "Ghost in the Chell" photo, now that I think about it - rats >.>) and then hurried back, arriving about 15 minutes late due to difficulties with my makeup. Oddly enough, the Rattman and the GLaDOS never showed, so I got another private shoot, this time as Chell - again, I will post the pictures when I get them, because they are sure to be amazing.

Oh well, I thought, as I headed back to the con - at least everyone will surely be there for the group shoot, right?

Nope:

And that was it; neither a triumph NOR a huge success, although believe it or not, the other Chell was also named Julia - how weird is that?

We did get some really cool pictures, though!

...wait, is that...?

...-enhances image with cyberbrain-

...AAAAAH! GUY FROM CON GUY FROM CON GUY FROM CON! TT_TT

Seriously, I jumped about a foot in the air and nearly shit myself when I saw that. It's like that bit in the horror movies where the person gets the photo developed and all of a sudden there's a ghost in it. -shivers-

Anyway, moving on:

Captain Jack! <3

Completely amazing Ryuk

This was all while we were waiting for the rave to start, by the way. It was so much fun once it got going - the music was great, and I had a great time dancing with everyone and rocking out on the platforms. I would have taken pictures but of course the lighting was not the greatest, plus my camera is crap :D I was still wearing Chell, so I was all decked out with blue and orange glowsticks <3

I also took a picture of this gentleman due to his striking resemblance to Yahtzee Croshaw, of whom he had apparently never heard:

We left the rave at about 2 because of the increasing number of drunk people wandering around - I was nervous about trying to get out of the parking lot when they all started leaving.

On to Saturday:

Steampunk!

Midna!

This guy was really amazing; he'd made a little crank music box, only instead of chimes it played a tune in whistles. I wish I could have gotten a video.

These people saw us sitting in the hallway and asked if we wanted a photo - how could we say no? Also, the tachikoma usually lives in the rear window of my car, but we decided to take him out to see the con <3

I have a soft spot for the Fourth Doctor because he was once a Halloween costume of my brother's.

I swear, this Barry has been at every con I've ever visited.

An entry for the Duct Tape Cosplay Challenge contest.

Probably the least half-assed L I've ever seen.

This Faye was ADORABLE <3

Rave time again, which means time to bust out my Chroma! <3

She almost didn't make it to the con because of construction difficulties (dyeing the spandex, sewing the spandex together, sewing things onto the spandex, etc...I hate spandex >.>) and she still isn't done, because I need to put a new front floaty thing on and then do the sleeve floaty things, but considering that she was put together almost entirely the night before the con? I think I deserve a pat on the back. I had purple contacts to go with her, but they kept getting stuck up under my eyes, so I didn't wear them to the rave for safety reasons. Also, I'm never wearing a full body suit to a rave again - I nearly died from overheating.

This guy was also at the Valve panel. <3

We stayed a bit later at the Saturday rave (like 2:30), and then stayed up another two hours yakking with the awesome roommates, so when I got up on Sunday I totally didn't feel like cosplay or taking pictures. The only picture I got was of this guy:

One thing I DID feel like doing, however, was spending money! I found almost all of the Petshop of Horrors manga for SUPER CHEAP at the flea market, which was awesome because it's OOP and I love it. I also got the second GitS: SAC light novel (the one I'd been looking for!) for $5 (half the price of the online listing!) and I was kind of disappointed by it because it was actually kind of good (review to follow!) I also got a ton of snacks to take home, including a 6-pack of Ramune for the family. We left once we were done raiding the dealer's room, and Atsuko got 36 MPG for the whole trip. Good job, Atsuko!

Now to clean up the mess-splosion that is my sewing nook.
