But then again, maybe not. XDD
OHGEEZUS. I don't even know where to start. The characters? OK.
Ohno Satoshi as Naruse Ryou:
The man is brilliant. I will miss just about everything: his softspoken comments, his loud shoes that seemed to echo even on carpet, the slow-mo every time he turned, his smirks (I laughed each time). What killed me the most were his pained expressions and how he gulped a lot when he was nervous. Oh yes, trust me, I noticed every gulp.
HIS CRYING. Dear god. I don't know what it is, but it really gets to me. (Nino does this to me too; his face turns red and it's way realistic.) Ohno quivers. He trembles. His acting is just. Incredible. I love him for taking this role, I really do.
And man, if Ohno never accepted this role there wouldn't be truth, guys. ;o;
Ikuta Toma as Serizawa Naoto:
At first, he was just the heated cop who just ran around and screamed a lot. Well, there was a lot of that. BUT, his ability to react every time the news of someone else's death came along was impressive. There was tree-touching, crying in the rain, collapsing and doubling over in an alley, file-cabinet-touching, wall-leaning, etc. Then his other expressions of shock/revelation, his IHATEYOUDAD faces, and his WTFNARUSE'SEVERYWHERE faces. Who doesn't think all that was epic? XD
I don't know why some people didn't think this role suited him as well ('cause apparently it's just not as funny as Nakatsu/Takemoto) but to me, Naoto was plenty entertaining and lol-tastic. Ikuta Toma, you are really kind of awesome.
(Although it would have been more awesome to see his DUDEWTF face when he saw Naruse's Naoto shrine but alas.)
Kobayashi Ryoko as Sakita Shiori:
HUGE HUGE EYES. But omg, my love for her grew so much as the series went on. She's like this wibbly puppy that just won't go away but you can't say no 'cause she's too adorable.
Whatever-his-name-is as Yamano Makoto:
If I ever see this actor again, I won't be able to see him as anything but Yamano. He played his part so well. Yamano's such a.. hate-able character. And I never knew his full name was Yamano Makoto until I wiki'ed just now. THAT SOUNDS A LITTLE FISHY.
THE OST. Amazing. Just amazing. I'm totally thinking of transcribing a couple of songs just because they deserve to be transcribed into piano music. *___* It'll probably take me years though.
How about that Episode 11?:
Public transportation, let's use it! Ah, nope nevermind, because RUNNING'S SO MUCH MORE DRAMATIC. T^T Nuuu. Even a bicycle would have been sufficient enough!
I can watch the final Naruse/Serizawa scene so many times and still stay glued to the screen. The intensity and the tears. Agh, my heart. And when Naruse's like, "KILL ME NOW DEMYU." and Naoto shook his head and said he couldn't, I just broke.
When the scene switched to them both propped against the wall, I laughed, I admit it. But I mean, who else would do something as adorable as that? A normal person would leave Serizawa laying on the ground but no, Naruse sits him up beside him. [cue more tears] I don't know, I just kind of wanted to sit in a corner and just cry. I'd really hate to be in Shiori's position just then.
I loved how this whole mess began and ended with an accident. There's just so much depth in symbolism that my little brain can't handle. Like the butterflies, for example. In the opening, right at the beginning, there's the butterfly that's heading toward the spider's web. Then the running Serizawa slams into the wall of tarot cards and happens to slam right into the Seven of Coins card (the one with the spider web). AH GEEZ. And you'd think the song was obvious enough. ;;
And I'm getting the real Maou vibes from Yamano. I mean, his name's gotta be Yamano Makoto for a reason, right? AND. He stabs Naruse then uses that same knife to stab Kasai. WTFMAN. WHO DOES THAT? ASFKAFJGGH.
What's up with that ending? I'm hearing things like extra scenes in the DVD box? ;~; We have to wait that long?
