I've been in a slump lately. Nothing's been appealing. Today, however, the light seems to be back in my sky. I'm excited about my A&S projects for the first time in a while. I harvested the first of my tobacco yesterday, as it had reached the stage prescribed by "C. T." in his 1615 book of advice for tobacco planters in England. The leaves are drying on the floor in my attic until they're the right stage of wilted to go to the next step.
One ear of corn has survived. Either
the hot pepper did the trick, or the fence is working, but I've got a survivor. That's good enough for me - I just was worried about my seed stock, and this should be more than enough (along with what I saved from last year) to start me up again next year. I may go back to growing it in planters next summer, though. The damned muskrats nearly wiped me out, and it's easier to defend (or just move) a planter.
I was contacted lately by the Seneschal of the Canton of the Towers in Carolingia, who wants me to come down and teach a class on period chocolate in October. They're even willing to help with my travel expenses & give me dinner. Hell yeah!
Maybe, just maybe, if I'm motivated enough, I will start a new dress this fall.
