Question about Computers & CD Drives

Jan 07, 2008 11:44

So I have an mp3 CD I have played a hundred times, including on this computer. Yet when I put it in this morning, it wouldn't play. The files came up in the CD, including in detail view, but when I tried to play any Winamp froze up and died. I tried it in Windows Media, and got error messages. I tried to copy the files to the hard drive to see if I could get them to work from there, and got the error message of unable to copy - "The parameter is incorrect."

What does this mean? Has the disk gotten corrupted somehow? More importantly, can it be fixed? This CD included mp3s taken off of wax-cylinder recordings from the 1890s. I will never be able to get this stuff again.

Is there any hope?
