I took J. to the pediatric dentist today. He was a great guy. He told me right off the bat he expected J. to scream and that was OK, as it would just give him a better look. I was hoping J. would be OK with it, as we've made great strides in the area of toothbrushing, but alas, it was not to be. J. sat in my lap facing me, and I laid his head in the dentist's lap, and though the dentist was very gentle J. screamed his head off. All the while the dentist was just talking to him really softly, telling him how helpful he was as he tried to grab the mirror from him lol and yes I felt terrible for my boy but it only took a couple of minutes and then he was fine. His mouth looks healthy and apparently we're doing fine with the toothbrushing. He wants us to floss between J.'s bottom teeth because they are so close together. We'll see how that works out. Maybe I'll try it on a good day...Afterward J. got a baby-friendly squeaky giraffe toy which he just adored the heck out of, a baby toothbrush with an adult-size handle and some baby flossers. And of course a bunch of hugs and kisses from mama.
