Lars Von Trier, what does he want?
I think he is really a very very bad director. I think his lack of talent is one of the sign of the lack of many things which I do not want to mention here, in our contemporary society. So again Lars Von trier, what does he want? Could any of you answer? I really cannot find one.

Hello Kitsune,
I haven't watched Medea, so I cannot say anything. The big problem, in my opinion, with Lars Von Trier is the fact that some people consider him a genius. I think he is mediocre, while there are debates about him. He plays the role of the intellectual. I mean Medea, Pasolini shoot one Medea, but Pasolini is a genius. Dogville is full of quotes by Saint Augustine, as many other movies he made are supposed to make people think. He also wrote a manifesto with the other idiot director Vintemberg. Lars Von Trier is pretentious. He doesn't have at all the talent to shoot such movies or to write a manifesto. All the technical devices he uses, in my opinion, are completely senseless, like a bad writer that uses many bad words to provide a shock to his lack of content and form. And I say that if you are able to use them, bad words are not bad at all. Von Trier embodies, in my opinion, the mediocrity of our present time in many aspects, considering the fact that people debate about him. And for example noone says anything about I don't know, let's say Gus Van Sant, a normal director, much much better than Lars Von Trier, in my opinion. The problem, in my opinion again, is that people elect as genius other people really poor of talent. So all the mediocres and banal instead of trying to move, they stand still admiring how much they are close to geniality. Everyone is half hero. Suntanning with boredom. Lars Von Trier in cinema, nowadays embodies, in my opinion, precisely this role.
I disagree about the fact that Idioten or Europe are good movies. I think they are very bad, but still from nice to brilliant, in between there is too much. I have too much of seeing him everywhere ( one of these days I am afraid of finding him in my cupboard ) with his very stupid provocations dealed as visual poems.
