a lower contrast version (with the more subtle details and shading) can be found
here.
I'd finished the low-contrast one and then realized that the wings are a lightsource in and of themselves so…the shadows should be starker. but then little things like the detailing on Raikou's omamori vanished and I was sad ;o;
lineart in full size
here. the lineart with the original version of the wings is
here.
and if anyone's curious,
this is a screencap of what my layer-groups look like. with the "hair" one open.
7: the base tone of Raikou's hair
8: shadows and highlights in Raikou's hair
6: the brighter red streaks so there's more definition
9: base tone plus a few shadows in Raphael's hair
10: sharper highlights so it looks more shiny
20: the ribbon and omamori in Raikou's hair
36: used to differentiate between Raikou's hair and face once I had the higher contrast applied, since I wanted to be able to go back to the low contrast version
42: an overlaid layer so Raphael's hair is brighter without the higher contrast layer because it looks better that way
12: the black helped me see what I was doing with highlights and shadows (mostly for Raph's)
overall, there were 50+ layers. I don't know exactly how many because I deleted or combined a few as I worked, and the entire "wings2" group are duplicates of the "wings" group so they're Layer # copy. But, yes! I'd guess maybe 55 overall? Very possibly more since the highest actual numbered layer I have is Layer 50. I love layers way too much sob sob DON'T JUDGE ME AND MY LAYERS T^T
edit if you can't see the wings, I uploaded a version without the effects that made them glowy and shiny over
here so you can see at least see their shape.
