I'm doing a relief term at the moment. It's been pretty good so far.
I did a week of psychiatry. Normally their residents spend the first week learning then begin helping out in the second week - so basically I did nothing for a week and everyone was really nice to me.
This week I'm doing anaesthetics. It's pretty awesome. All the specialists are keen to teach and really friendly. It almost makes me want to quit physicians training. They've let me intubate and I even got it right once (instead of intubating the patient's oesophagus, causing her to desaturate until the anaesthetist calmly took over and fixed everything).
In other news I'm getting fat. It feels like there is a constant pressure on my abdominal wall forcing it to slowly expand. Actually there probably is...
Today a woman stood up to give me her seat on the bus. People are nice.
