On the other hand if I owned a boat on the South coast right now I would be posting my phone number all over the internet and planning what to spend my thousands on.

I am reliably informed by actively listening to what my eyes tell me that it was Dan Snow, not Jon Snow, which seems rather more plausible.

I don't know...I suspect it's to do with immigration and customs.

Yeah, I think Jon Snow's a little bit old to be attempting a civilian version of the D-Day Landings.

Why do it? Because it sounds fun (and maybe useful). Why stopped? because immigration controls.
