Holyhead Harpies

I am completely aware that nothing that I do, say, or wear has any affect on the outcome of a professional sporting event, but I'm wearing my "I CLE" shirt today and the credits just finished rolling Major League.

So I witnessed the Cleveland [Buckeyes] win their first World Series game for the first time in exactly 19 years last night (their last win being Game 6 on Saturday, October 25, 1997). Corey Kluber was dealing, Andrew Miller shaved years off of my life (those 7th and 8th innings were basically if I took a 10-year, pack-a-day smoking habit and concentrated it into a half hour of baseball), and Roberto Perez long-donged his way into hearts across the nation. Game 2 actually starts in 50 minutes and I've gotta get cat food and seltzer water before it starts before heading over to DRoll's (I had to watch with just Roni because I was too anxious to be around anyone else yesterday), but here are some articles discussing Cleveland's name/Chief Wahoo that I am loving:

MLB Commissioner Says He Plans on Talking to Indians Ownership About Chief Wahoo Logo (Cleveland Scene)

Shapiro: Indians’ Chief Wahoo logo ‘personally bothered me’ (Sportsnet.ca)

Why the World Series Is Tainted by Racism (The Nation) (My buddy Andrew is quoted at the end of this!)

Chief Wahoo earns deserved negative attention thanks to Indians' success (Cleveland.com)

MLB Commissioner will talk to Cleveland owner over Chief Wahoo logo (sportslogos.net)

Live responsibly and lovingly. Be positive and creative. You're beautiful. Peace.

Yours, etc.,
<3dane
