Tuna vs Peanut Butter?

Has everyone ever heard of this before?  Tuna and peanut butter being good for the hair?  I received this email today:

"putting tunafish on your hair and a plastic baggie sit under the hairdryer for 10 minutes,suppose to put shine and oils into your hair.making it shining"

I was doing some looking around and I think I found the source of that slightly misleading fact.

It seems that eating tuna is good for hair, especially tuna in water, as it has a large amount of omega-3 fatty acids which can restore shine to hair. I haven't found any articles that say that omega-3s can be applied to hair by putting tuna on your head. Since the omega-3s are actually in the tuna, I can't see how that would work. Possibly from the oil from the "tuna in oil" package? Some how I would think eating tuna would be a better way to go.
