How to Install a Journal Layout

May 31, 2009 09:57

I've had people ask me, "How do you install it?" Well, instead of typing it up EVERY TIME someone asks me that, I thought I'd post an entry. I've had a good success rate in people not coming back and asking me, "OK, so I just did the Sidebar how I want it, but how do you do the Custom CSS again?" So I think that is pretty good, considering I'm not ( Read more... )

I am planning on doing a profile tutorial, I'll actually start doing that tonight since you're asking how. ^.^

As for using headers, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean how do you install a header in your layout?

Well, it is pretty much the same, but when I say "header", I mean the image at the top of your journal (not in your profile). A profile layout to me is what you put in your profile...like if you go to the profile of hair_works, you'll see what I mean. Also, a header is generally bigger than a profile's image...but that's because you have more space on your journal than in your profile. I hope I explained that in a way that is not confusing because I think I confused myself. LOL

Yes, i think I'm getting what you mean.. okay, how about the bakground photo? is that when you have, hmm... how to explain??.. okay, some fic-writer had a multi-chapter fiction, so only for this fiction, they use a photo on the top.. how is that possible, and what they call it? graphics? photo?

and if possible how to put image, picture or whatever in the porfile not in my journal...

Thanks million

I think when they put that picture at the top for that fic, they put it in the entry. So you just use the HTML code, <*img src="URL HERE"> (just remove the asterisk (*) when you use the code and replace URL HERE with the URL of the picture you want) in a journal entry.

As for putting a picture in your profile, use the same code that I just told you in your Bio box.

For an entire profile layout, I use tables and you copy and paste that code in the Bio box and change some text to whatever you want,
