Dear Mr. "I just put money on this an hour ago!!" drive thru guy:
You do realize what time it is right? It's 1 in the morning on Sunday. If you claim you just threw $200 on the card of yours, that is wonderful! Awesome for you to have money! However...it is Sunday...at one in the morning. Plus that is a credit card, so the transaction may take up to five days to process. Five business days.
Throwing a fit when I tell you that the transaction was denied and screaming that it's our machines is not the way to go. Our machine clearly tell me if there is an error with it, or if there's an error with the card. (Card read error, versus Transaction not approved)
When I explain everything that I have mentioned above, don't bitch me out even further and scream that you just put money onto the card. I will calmly explain that it is a weekend, that you have a credit card (as apposed to a debit, which at least allows you some money), and that the issue is out of my hands, call the bank.
So please, do not yell at a poor fast food employee when your card is denied. I tried, and it failed. I do not know the state of your account, nor how much money you really have. All I know is that it is Sunday at one in the morning, you have a credit card, and that the credit card is not working. Screaming at me is not going to help the situation at all.
I just have this feeling that someone else has been taking care of this guys finances. If he already maxed out his credit card, he's had it for a reasonable amount of time, and should know the workings of it. Which, I guess, is fine. Whatever floats your boat. However...Don't yell at me because it's not working!
Ps: I understand it sucks that the guy's card wasn't working and he was obviously upset. Trust me, I would be upset too, if I randomly had no money when I thought I did. However, he was yelling, screaming, and trying to blame it on me, when it was clearly an issue with his card/bank, and not an issue on my end. Big difference between taking your card back and going "...what the? Well, that sucks!" and "WHAT?! I JUST FUCKING PUT MONEY ON THAT! YOUR MACHINE'S FUCKED UP!"
