Forgot to ask on the other community, you've mentioned an AP French class, what is it?

And I added you back =)

Oh AP stands for Advanced Placement, and basically the test, if you pass, is for college course exemption. The test for French was pretty stupid, because at this AP meeting the graders said that French has the harshest curve since they consider it a "noble language," and that none but the best deserve to pass. How biased. Of course, it doesn't help how half the people who took the test were native speakers. -_- Thankfully, I passed, and now my foreign language requirement for college is almost complete. :)

Oh, another question. Did you ever watch Les Choristes? It's my favourite movie of all time. <3

Oh I see, your French must be really good then, if you've passed a test that's usually taken by native speakers! Congrats! =)

Yep, I've watched Les Choristes. It was a pretty big deal here (that doesn't happen with a lot of French movies here, ironically). And I don't know why, but I was thinking you'd tell me about Amélie, if you were to talk of a French movie, that's got to be the most famous French movie there =)
I'm pleasantly surprised, haha.

Oh no, sorry, it's not meant for native speakers, I just meant that all the native speakers in the U.S. take it because it gives them a huge advantage in terms of credits and stuff. I've taken French for only four years, which is a disadvantage because I know in New York they've taken it for six. My French is okay, I guess, but there is still a lot to learn, especially with expressions ( ... )

Oh I see, but still, you did pass a test hard enough to lessen your languages requirements for college now =)
And I definitely agree, expressions are one the hardest thing to learn about a foreign language, because they tend to be used more, but doesn't always make sense to a non-native speaker.

Strangely enough, I've never watched Amélie. I've seen bits and pieces, like when it was on tv and the tv was on, but I was on the computer at the same time, so it was kind of a background noise, I wasn't very paying attention, and I've never felt compelled to watch it either.
One of my favorite French movie is probably Jeux d'Enfants, you've got to see it if you haven't already! It's really great! But really though, most of the movies I watch are American, and it's pretty much the same for most, if not all of my friends too.

Oh and, don't hesitate if you need any help with French, I'd be glad to help out =)

Hahahaha yeah, expressions. My favourite one that I've learned so far, and one that I used in my AP test cause I thought it was witty, is "garder son sang froid." xD I just think it's really cool. :) I remember "fruits de mer" was something that confused quite a few people, because they couldn't understand why it wasn't "fruits de la mer." xD ( ... )

Jeux d'enfants is really great! It stars Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard (before La môme and her become big in the States). And I don't know any of the other movies... I've heard of La gloire de mon père, but not Au revoir les enfants.

I guess we just figure it's a sentence, not just a title, but I've gotten so used to writing American movie titles that I tend to capitalize the first letter of each word in a title now =)

And no, I haven't watched Lord of the Rings. I've tried plenty of time watching the first one, but I've never managed to watch it completely, and so I've never watched the others.

You're welcome, I'll be just a PM away =)

Oh my goodness, you should really watch Au revoir les enfants. It's a WWII movie, and it's when the Nazis are rounding up the Jews, and there is an orphan among many who is a Jew, but he was taken in to be hidden. In the end he was found anyway, along with an orphanage director, and that made me cry. :(

Hmm... yeah I'm starting to get used to not capitalizing, I'm getting so lazy LOL.

And I used to hate it too, but when it became the basis of a writing prompt I started reading, and started becoming addicted. Of course, the presence of Orlando Bloom really helped, kekeke ;D

So sweet of you <3
