Doctor Who Meme Day 5
Still on schedule as I have planned.
Day 5: Favorite Companion
Oh, five is my favorite number. Fancy that!
Despite this meme’s brilliant attempt at giving me a brain hemorrhage with all these “wat’z ur fav!” questions, I think I cleverly made my decision here between the two companions whom I adore a bit more than the rest: I went with the one I had the most to say about, and that would be Rose Tyler.
I love your gun actually. Very gung-ho meets Stargate Trooper with Daleks instead of giant bugs.
What to say about Rose Tyler. She defied my logic. I went into her storyline with almost everything against her: people telling me they didn’t like her (ties in with her relationship with the Doctor I mentioned before) and I had already seen (accidentally) Doomsday . Who would want to become emotionally invested in a character when you already know how their story ends? For the most part. And yet right at the start of her story I found a way to connect through her mundane, same-old same-old life and watched as this girl my age blossomed into the woman we get at the end of season 2, and then again in season 4. Her progression is amazing and, if I can so, quite inspiring how she starts just plain average and develops into this defender of the earth (universe, thanks).
Not to say I don’t love the other companions pretty much equally, to be fair. They all have their own share of tragedies circling the Doctor, and changed and grew because of him, but there’s just something so very real about this character that I just can’t get past.
