The Bermudez Triangle
I just finished The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson. It was about these three friends Avery, Nina and Mel. Nina goes away for the summer and falls in love with a tree hugger named Steve while Mel and Avery get a bit closer, actually they start dating. But after everyone in school finds out about it Avery pulls away and ends things. She doesn't really think she's gay unlike Mel whose completely sure. Mel takes the break up hard but gets support from Nina and her new friend Parker. Nina is really angry with Avery and can't understand why she could do something so horrible. By the end she realizes that Avery had simply fallen for a friend but that was all it was, she cared for Mel but not the way she thought she had. If Avery hadn't helped Mel get out of the closet she may never have. They all become friends again at the end.
