Today, at school, we saw this documentary called The Invisible Children. It was so sad. I almost cried. The movie was about these three guys who go to Africa and they find this story and capture it all on film. These boys, from the ages of 8 to 12 are being taken from their homes and being brain washed into killers, into soldiers. It is terrible. I really wish I could help more. They were selling these bracelets at lunch that 84% of the profits went to helping the actual kids. But they were 20 dollars and I was sadly short 20 dollars. I have no idea what I would ever do if I were in that situation. It's so unreal and scary, but I know it happens. When I got home from school I tried to tell my mom about the movie, maybe motivate her to get interested too, but unfortunately my grandma was here. Sometimes, sadly, I can't stand her. She doesn't like to listen to me. I don't really understand though because she really doesn't know anything about todays world. I try to teach but no one listens. Also everyone has to bring up that people right here in America are in similar situations but really they're not. It's like a totally different thing. Kids here aren't being kidnapped and brainwashed into soldiers. There's that whole human trafficking thing, but it takes place more in other countries and they're not really turned into killing machines. Using them for sex is terrible too and that also shouldn't happen. I think that people need to be more aware of what's going on in our world. We shouldn't just work as a country, we should work as a world.
