2- You Drive Me Crazy!

Dean’s knuckles were white on the steering wheel of the stolen car, or the shit-piece-of-stolen-car as Dean had started calling it. He missed his impala. Dean bitched to himself, not for the first time, just why had he agreed to help this feather-brained idiot?

‘Dean, what’s the matter?’ Castiel asked. Speak of the devil! Dean thought ironically.

‘Oh, nothing Cas. I love going back in time looking for goddamn demons, with a powerless angel and getting chased by rabid dogs while boosting a car, all when I’ve only had six hours of sleep in the last two days! I’m just peachy!’

Castiel only stared at Dean, making him wonder if the angel knew the meaning of sarcasm.

‘If you hadn’t run the dogs wouldn’t have chased you,’ Dean’s eyebrow twitched.

‘I can’t use the full extent of my strength, as it will alert others of my presence, but I am far from powerless.’

‘Yeah, you told me, I get it. Don’t get your feathers in a bunch.’

Castiel glared at Dean. The hair on the back of his neck prickled and Dean wondered if he’d gone too far. But the daredevil in Dean mocked; Aw, what’s he gonna do? Smite me?

‘Stop the car.’ Oh, shit.

‘Why? You wanna fight?’

‘No. I want to drive.’

It was Dean’s turn to stare.

‘What? No. I mean, why?’

‘I can drive while you sleep.’

Usually this suggestion would piss him off, but Dean felt surprisingly touched. He pulled over and was about to thank Castiel when a horrifying thought made his eyes widen.

‘Hey man, do you even know how to drive?’ Dean asked, pale.

‘Yes,’ Castiel paused and looked away, not a good sign. ‘I have watched you drive. It seems simple enough.’

‘No way are you driving.’ Dean said, shaking his head. ‘Over. My. Dead. Body.’

Castiel looked back at Dean, his blue eyes narrow and a small smile on his lips.

Dean knew a smirk when he saw one and that teeny smile on another person would’ve been bigger than the Cheshire cat’s grin from Alice in Wonderland.

‘Very well.’

Dean was still stunned by the unexpected smile and didn’t move away in time as Cas placed two fingers on Dean’s brow and sent him to sleep.

Dean woke up in a Motel room. He was laying on a comfortable bed with his leather jacket draped over him. He felt like he’d just had the best sleep of his life. He stretch on the bed and called out to his brother.

‘Sam? Hey dude, how’d we get here?’

After a few moments of silence, Dean sat up and looked around, puzzled.

Then Dean remembered where and when he really was. There was a knock on the door and Dean rolled his eyes, who could that be? Dean opened the door.

‘Hey Angel Face, where’ve you been?’ Dean said expecting it to be Castiel, but found a surprised girl instead.

She giggled, shoved the fluffy white towels she’d been carrying at him and ran off.

Dean stood there looking shell shocked. He’d never had that reaction from a girl before. Laughing, smiling, winking and general flirting, yes. But giggling? Weird.

He closed the door and tossed the towels on the bed. The only bed…

The implications sank in. He covered his burning face with a hand and laughed.

He could just imagine Castiel walking up to the reception desk, a passed out Dean slung over a shoulder and asking for a room; would you like twin beds, sir? No, only one bed will be necessary.

That’s it, Dean thought, I’m gonna kill him. He stood with his hands on his hips and wondered where (that bastard) Cas was.

‘Dean.’ Castiel said from outside the window. ‘I’ve found where the demons are hiding.’

‘Damn it Cas!’ Dean yelled, when his heart had started beating again. ‘Don’t DO that!’

He grabbed his jacket irritably and joined Castiel outside.

‘They’re staying opposite the Novak’s house, in a house across the street.’

‘How many are there?’

‘Three, but keep your guard up, there might be more I haven’t detected.’

‘Yippee.’ Dean said sourly and checked how many bullets were left in his gun.

He looked around the parking lot for the car and gapped when he saw it.

‘Jesus! What the hell happened to the car?!’ It was a wreck, Dean barely recognised it.

‘Uh, driving proved trickier than I thought.’ Dean stared at Castiel in amazement.

‘Trickier?!’

Dean opened the driver’s side door and it crashed to the ground with a squeak of abused metal. Dean raised his eyebrows at Castiel, who had the decency to look embarrassed.

‘You are never, never, driving my car.’
