Day 4: Favorite Books

I love reading and it would be hard to pick favorites. I'll name some writers whose works I enjoyed immensely and I hope that you'll check them out.

I'll get this one out of the way first: J.K. Rowling.
Harry Potter is a highly successful franchise, but let's not forget where it all began. Before the movies and the merchendise, it was a set of books. JK Rowling is a highly imaginitive person, gifted with a unique way with words. The world of Harry Potter is one that I love to get lost in.

Neil Gaiman
Neil writes for both adults and children. I think that says a lot. My sister introduced me to him and what I love about this guy is how he makes his characters speak. They all come out so unique and endearing. I do prefer his children's literature though, like Coraline and the Graveyard Book. Perhaps it's the kid in me.

Charles Dickens
I haven't read a lot of classics but the few that I have read were written by Mr. Dickens. My favorite, of course, is The Chrismas Carol. I love this story. The Ghost of Christmans Yet to Come scared the living hell out me as a child, but the message he sent could not be clearer.

Bill Watterson and Scott Adams
Comic books count so I'm adding these two. Watterson draws Calvin and Hobbes. If you read Calvin and Hobbes, you know why I love them. Adams is the creator of Dilbert; and the way he portrays the corporate world just really makes me glad that someone out there understands.

Hiromu Arakawa, CLAMP and Nobuhiro Watsuki
Manga counts as well. CLAMP created Cardcaptor Sakura, Watsuki created Rurouni Kenshind and Arakawa created Fullmetal Alchemist. All three stories were well written, but in my opinion, the best of these is Fullmetal Alchemist.
