I'm gonna cheat a little and refer to a post I made back in 2009. The following are films I highly recommend:
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
The Back to the Future Trilogy (1985, 1989 and 1990)

Well, it has been two years since that post so I think I should name a few new movies:
Inception (2010)
A fine concept and a fine execution. Human thought and imagination are powerful things indeed. I would love to be a lucid dreamer. I think I'd have loads of fun.
X-Men: First Class (2011)
I think this is the best Marvel movie ever. Nothing like a good bromance to keep viewers engaged. James McAvoy was exceptional in this one. My favorite line was, "Don't touch my hair."
Tangled (2010)
An animated movie that made me laugh and cry in all the right places. The events played out so wonderfully and the characters were so endearing, especially Maximus. Thank you Disney for making one more musical, fairy tale movie.
Alice in Wonderland (2010)
An feast for the eyes and they could not have cast a better Alice. It is totally worth it seeing this movie in 3D. Another awesome Depp/Burton/Bonham-Carter team-up.
The Holiday (2006)
Not as recent as the ones above but it is one of my favorites. In my opinion, this is the mother of all romantic comedies.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Parts I and II (2010 and 2011)
